Chapter 1
by Fidomom

Mimi cringed, afraid to get out of her car and face the other driver. She opened her eyes and took a deep breath muttering reassuringly to herself as she got out of her car,
"It was just an itty bitty accident. Just a ding. Doubt anybody is hurt. I'll just explain how I had a lot on my ... oh it's YOU!"
The other driver grit his teeth and cursed as he surveyed the deep scratces on his green '83 Thunderbird,
"Oh that's just fucking great Lockhart! I JUST had her custom painted! What the hell were you doing? Who in their right mind gave an airhead like you a license to drive?"
Mimi opened her mouth in outraged protest but then stopped,
"Well you aren't hurt though right?"
His jade eyes widened incredulously,
"Weren't you listening? My car Lockhart- you scratched the shit out of my fucking car!!!"
Mimi sighed and giggled nervously as she rolled her eyes dismissively,
"Oh that! That my insurance will cover! Look I'll just give you my info and your insurance company can contact mine. Cheer up! It's only paint Jase it can be repainted!"
In stunned silence he accepted the business-type card she handed him. He looked at it for several seconds before realising what it was,
"You have business cards ready to hand out with your insurance information on them? So what you make a habit out of wrecking other people's cars?"
Mimi sucked in a haughty breath,
"No! It's just I'm very busy and this is faster and maybe it's happened once before okay maybe twice ... well this way is just easier ... okay it's happened four times if you don't count the time I ..."
He held up his hand halting her mid-speech,
"Enough! Got it. Maybe you should consider NOT driving you ditzy airhead!"
Her mouth turned down at the corners as she whined,
"Well how else would I get to school or work?"
He raised his eyebrows angrily,
"Not my problem!"
She pouted,
"Don't yell at me! It was your idea!"
His face showed his utter bafflement,
"What was my idea?"
She sighed heavily and rolled her eyes,
"That someone else should drive me to and from work and school!"
"I never said that."
"Yes you did. You said I shouldn't drive."
"Take the bus for all I care! How you get to work and school ain't my problem ... having to repaint my T-bird because some airhead wrecked the paint job, that is my only priority!"
Mimi's eyes lit up with an idea,
"So how long will that take?"
"How long will what take?"
"Duh! Getting your car repainted!"
Jason closed his eyes and groaned as he realised the answer,
"It's a custom job. That's just fucking great! Now I won't have my car for another 6 weeks! Fuck!"
Mimi clapped her hands excitedly,
"Perfect!"
Jason looked ready to throttle her,
"Excuse me?"
Mimi looked suddenly concerned as she put out her hands placatingly,
"Oh no no no! Not the paint job! Not the accident either... it really was an accident you know. I mean I think we can help each other out here."
He was again dumbfounded at her audacity,
"Are you crazy? What the hell gives you the idea I would want to help you? You just fucked up my car!"
She looked properly contrite,
"Okay I know that but that will be all taken care of by the insurance right? So the way I see it we have two problems. You need wheels and I need someone to drive me to and from work and school, so do we have a deal?"
He looked at her a blankly,
"A deal? Huh?"
She frowned,
"Yeah. You get the full use of my car until yours is back from it's touch-up and I get a chauffeur."
His eyes widened in horror,
"Chauffeur? Me? Yours? In that? Have you lost your fucking mind?!"
She pursed her lips determinedly,
"No. It was your idea. I was just agreeing. I really shouldn't drive. Can't multi-task. I'll wait right here for you. Thank god I was only on my way to meet ... yipes I gotta call Belle and tell her what happened! Here's five dollars - no idea how much bus fare is but that should cover it! Go already Jason! The autobody shop closes in half an hour!"
His jaw dropped open in disbelief as he stared at the five dollar bill and then at Mimi and then at their cars,
"Let me get this straight? You scratched my newly custom painted car all to hell and now you expect me to rush to go drop it off to be repainted just so I can then take a bus and meet you back here to drive you home in your car?"
Mimi beamed a smile of approval at him,
"Exactly! Better get going Jason time's ... BELLE! Oh my God you won't believe what just happened!"
Jason just stood there for a few more seconds shaking his head in furious disbelief as he watched Mimi summarily dismiss him as she talked to Belle on her cell phone. He finally shrugged in sheer frustration and got back into his car. He rolled the fiver into a cylinder the approximate size of a cigarette and he tucked it behind his ear. Then he vowed from between clenched teeth as he put his car into gear and peeled rubber,
"Thanks for the bus fare Lockhart but you are way far fucking wrong if you think I'm gonna be your chauffeur tonight or ever!"

Chapter 2
by Fidomom

Jason Masters kicked at litter on the sidewalk. He was royally pissed. He'd had absolutely no intention of going to pick up Mimi and her car when he'd left to drop his T-bird off. One phone call and now it would look to her like he was agreeing to her cockamamie idea.
"NOT!"
Another piece of litter went flying off the toe of his shoe. He heard a vehicle approach and looked up. He rolled his eyes and muttered,
"I don't fucking believe I'm taking a bus! Fucking airhead!"
He climbed aboard, paid his fare and took a seat near the back. He was so busy stewing about the predicament he was in he nearly missed the stop closest to where Mimi and her Nissan Sentra waited. It so burned him that she would think he was being co-operative. He'd tell her up front. That's all there was to it. He'd tell her her idea sucked and that he would have had no qualms about standing her up whatsoever if it hadn't been for that one phonecall. The phonecall that meant he needed wheels. Not six weeks from now, oh no, he needed them tonight!
He rounded the corner and stopped when he saw Mimi sitting in her car.  She stood out like a beacon with the interior light on doing something to her face while looking in a little hand held mirror.  The streetlights that hadn't been smashed out were just starting to come on.  Jason took a deep breath and started toward her. That's when he noticed  a small group of punks pointing at Mimi and nodding and then they fanned out toward her car. He could see that one of the punks was weilding what looked suspiciously like a crowbar.
"Oh hell no! I need that car tonight!"
Jason sprinted the final distance and knocked on Mimi's window indicating she should move out of the driver's seat and into the passenger seat. She jumped when he knocked but smiled widely when she saw it was him. She scooched over. Not quick enough though. Just as Jason opened the door to get in the punks approached. Pretending calm as he thought to himself *If you dirtbags wreck this car I'm going to jail for murder!*,
"S'up?"
The only answer he got was for the crowbar weilder to tap the crowbar against his palm.  Mimi caught on to what was happening. She rolled her window down and pointed what was in her hand towards crowbar punk. Jason was still standing and couldn't see what she was doing but he heard her roll down the window. He silently cursed her for it thinking she was gonna get one or both of them seriously hurt or get the car totalled. None of the scenarios appealed to him. To his amazement he saw the crowbar punk slowly back away and then the lot of them ran. Completely baffled Jason shrugged and got into the car,
"What the hell were you doing rolling down the window? Those punks meant business! You're just lucky they decided to get lost!"
Mimi giggled,
"Yeah that is what I named it!"
He frowned,
"Named what now?"
She waved what was in her hand towards Jason making his face blanch and him curse as he tried to duck,
"Jesus, Mimi put that thing away! What in the hell are you doing with a gun? Don't even tell me someone let you have a license to carry!"
Mimi rolled her eyes,
"Relax Jase! Lucky's still got the safety thingamajig engaged, see?"
He pushed her hands away from him carefully,
"No, I don't need to see! Just put it away! What were you thinking sitting here with the interior lights on anyway? At this time of night you were like a neon sign to those punks! Next time you might as well just hold up an actual sign that says I'm a helpless female all alone please mug me and trash my car!"
Mimi grimaced in annoyance,
"Well duh! That's why I had the interior light on ... jackass! It was getting too dark for me to see to touch up my lipstick!"
His mouth hung open as he tried to make sense of her idea of logic. He gave up without saying a word and simply turned the key in the ignition. He drove her home in silence. When he pulled into the driveway he stopped her from getting out right away,
"Just so we're clear Lockhart, me picking you up tonight in no way constitutes agreement on my part to be your chauffeur!"
Mimi concealed her smirk,
"Oh. I see. Guess I'll find someone else to do it then. I'll just take the keys now then. How will you get home?"
His eyes widened uncertainly,
"Now wait a second here! You said I could use your car if I picked you up and brought you home! I need this car tonight! I shoulda known you wouldn't keep your end of the deal!"
Mimi looked at him with false confusion,
"Deal? According to you we don't have one. Which is it Jason? All or nothing?"
He glared at her miserably,
"This deal sucks. Your crappy car sucks. Being seen in your crappy car is gonna suck bad enough, but being seen driving you around in it will suck even worse. Why me? Why'd you have to hit my car?"
Mimi smiled almost sympathetically,
"I need you to pick me up at 530 tomorrow."
He frowned,
"Don't you have school before then?"
Mimi started to laugh,
"Oh you thought I meant PM!"
His jaw opened in a gasp,
"530 in the morning! Are you crazy? Who does that?!"
She smiled smugly,
"I do and for the next 6 weeks, so do you!"
He was almost afraid to ask,
"Why so early?"
She rolled her eyes in exasperation,
"Well since you're gonna be driving me around everywhere I should tell you my schedule anyway. Uhh Jase? You might wanna write some of this down."
He obviously had no paper or pen on him. At his look that said as much she quickly found both in her purse and handed them to him.
"Okay so every morning at 530 I go to the gym, except on Saturdays and Sundays. I go at 730 those days ... it feels so good to sleep in! By the time I get there do my workout have a swim take a shower it's 7 am. At 7 I go to the library and study or read for school. At 830 I have a mocha latte. At 845 I have my first class. I finish classes at 1, go to lunch then I volunteer from 2 to 5.  I have dinner, then study until 9. I do something fun for an hour then go to bed at 10. Saturdays after my workout and swim I usually meet Belle for breakfast then we go shopping. Right after lunch I pick-up some groceries. I do my laundry while I hit the books again until dinnertime. Saturday night I go out and have fun. Sunday after my work out and swim I go to church with my folks. After church I hit the books again until bedtime. So basically I just need rides to and from gym, library, school, work, the mall, the grocery store, church and here."
He had long ago stopped trying to keep up. What the hell had he gotten himself roped into?
"So basically I won't be your chauffeur ... I'll be your fucking slave?"
Mimi smiled encouragingly,
"It won't be so bad Jason. The time will fly by you'll see and then you'll have your custom Chevy back."
He ground his teeth,
"It's a 1983 custom FORD THUNDERBIRD! It's NOT a CHEVY! And who will drive you around when I do get my car back?"
Mimi leaned away in surprise at his vehemence,
"Okay Jase geez chill would ya! Chevy Ford whatever! As for who'll drive me around after you get your car back that's easy ... I'll have to go back to driving myself around."
"NO!"
"Excuse me?"
"I said no! As in no fucking way are you gonna be driving on the same streets as me and my T-Bird! You're a menace!"
"Well what else am I supposed to do?"
"Not my problem!"
"You just said it was."
"Huh?"
"You did. You just said you would have a problem with me driving myself around even after you get your car back so now you have to help me figure out what to do."
"Fuck! I don't have time for this right now! Just get out."
"It's my car."
"Mimi!"
"What?"
"Get ... out ... of ... the car."
She could see a vein in his neck pulsing rapidly and she sighed in defeat,
"Okay fine fine I'll get out but you better be here on time tomorrow. I'm gonna have to really scramble to catch up on the books already as it is thanks to you being so late picking me up to bring me home. Don't think I don't know you did that on purpose. Don't do it again. We have a deal. Hold up your end of it, Jase."
She gave him no chance to respond but slammed the door and strode confidently into her house. He watched her disappear into her house in stunned surprise. He shook his head and started the car. He tried to ignore the little tug of guilt he felt that he had been so late in picking her up. It wasn't working so well and it made him feel cranky,
"SHE scratched MY car, dammit! If anyone should feel guilty it's her not me!" An image of crowbar punk and his pack popped into his mind and he quickly banished it. He checked his watch.
"Fuck."
He pressed the gas a little harder as his knuckles turned white in their grip around the steering wheel.

Chapter 3
by Fidomom

Jason scanned the crowd anxiously but didn't see him anywhere. He ran a hand through his short dark blonde hair and looked at his watch again. He spun around startled by the tap on his shoulder. Green eyes locked onto blue eyes. The dark thick eyebrows above the blue ones rose a fraction and the man they belonged to tapped his own watch face,
"You're late."

Jason swallowed and his face got red,
"Sorry Jet."

Jet clapped him on the shoulder and laughed,
"Just don't let it happen again!"

Jason looked at Jet's teasing grin and broke into one of his own,
"C'mon let's get the hell outta here!"

Jet's grin deepened. He nodded and followed Jason out of the bustling airport into the parkade. Jason got knots in the pit of his stomach as they approached Mimi's car. He could feel Jet's curious eyes on him as he unlocked the little light blue car. Jason hoped Jet wouldn't say anything. No such luck. As Jet fastened his seatbelt he commented,
"Dude this has got to be the ugliest green custom T-bird I've ever laid eyes on."

Jason's heart sank as his face reddened in the darkened interior of the car,
"Long story Jet. Tell you later."

Jet chuckled,
"If there's a hot chick involved I MIGHT let you live this down. What is that? Vanilla musk? Isn't that what all strippers wear? So is she?"

Jason was annoyed with the questions about Mimi.

Jet's eyebrows rose as he chuckled,
"Whoa! This chick really has you over a barrel I see."

Jason clenched his jaw,
"No she doesn't. How was your flight?"

Jet grinned smugly and let it go. They talked about anything except the "ugly green T-bird" and it's owner during the drive to the Salem Inn.

Jason got out of the car when they arrived at the Salem Inn and banged his shoulder against Jet's in a macho guy excuse for a hug,
"Good to have you back here again Jet. Catch up with you later."

Jet frowned,
"What the hell? I just got here; let's go toss back some cold ones!"

Jason wanted to do just that. He looked at his watch and cursed,

"Fuck I wish I could but I have something to do very fucking early in the morning. As it is I'll be lucky to get 4 hours of sleep."

Jet looked at the car and then at Jason's face,
"Vanilla musk?"

Jason cast his eyes downward and nodded. Jet laughed,
"Can't wait to meet the chick that has you so pussy whipped!"

Jason glared at his mentor and best friend,
"It ain't like that."

Jet held up his hands to show he was backing off,
"If you say so! Gimme a call tomorrow ... if she lets you!"

Jason gave Jet the finger,
"Fuck you! I'll call you tomorrow and she doesn't have anything to do with it. She's not even part of my life."

Jet continued to smirk as he watched Jason get into the light blue Sentra and drive away,
"You just keep telling yourself that Jason! Whoever she is she's got my vote!"

Jet let out another chuckle shaking his head in amusement as he walked into Salem Inn.

Chapter 4

by Fidomom

Mimi had overslept. She was a little frazzled as she locked the door to the house. As she walked to her car she went fishing in her purse for her car keys. She stopped and her search in her handbag became frantic,

"Ohmigawd! I've lost my keys! They aren't here!"

She looked up then from her purse to see if she'd left them in the ignition and gasped. The keys were there alright but she remembered now that she hadn't left them there. She tapped impatiently on the window,

"Jason!! Jason!! Wake up!!!"

Jason frowned and tried to turn away from the tapping sound. He opened his eyes in puzzlement when he found he couldn't get comfortable. He was initially disoriented as he squinted in the pre-dawn light at Mimi through the car door window, then it all came back to him and he groaned aloud,

"Alright already! I'm up! Don't get your fucking panties in a knot!"

He re-adjusted his seat from it's reclined position and leaned across to the passenger side door to unlock it for Mimi. Mimi went around the front of the car and got in quickly amid much shuffling of purse and gym bag before finally closing the door,

"Jason what on earth were you doing?"

He cast a perturbed glance her way,

"Exactly what it looked like Sherlock. You done up yet?"

Mimi's face turned pink,

"Well no I don't usually put my make-up on until after my workout."

Jason looked at her like she'd grown another head,

"Your seatbelt. Is it on?"

She blushed harder,

"Ohhh! That's what you meant! Yes. I'm done up. You bet I am. I'm late too. Can we go now?"

He rolled his eyes and started the car. When it was obvious he wasn't going to talk Mimi queried tentatively,

"So I take it you're not a morning person?"

Jason sighed heavily and refused to answer. Mimi was starting to wonder if she had made a huge mistake in persuading him to chauffeur her around for the next six weeks. She tried her luck again,

"Why were you sleeping in my car?"

He chewed the inside of his cheek and pulled into the parking lot of the gym. She gave up expecting an answer and prepared to gather her things and get out. She looked at him curiously when he suddenly spoke,

"I'm sorry about last night ... being late. Those punks. I'm not used to getting up this early and I didn't want to be late picking you up."

Her jaw hung open but he didn't notice because he wouldn't look at her.

"Oh. I see. Were you there all night?"

He clenched his jaw,

"No. What time you finish here again?"

Mimi's eyebrows rose in wonder but she didn't press him further,

"Seven. I'll just spend less time in the whirlpool."

Jason set the timer on his sports watch, reclined the seat again and closed his eyes,

"See you at seven then."

Mimi felt a small smile tug at her mouth,

"Thanks Jase."

He gave no indication he'd even heard her. She got out of the car in a bit of a hurry to get her workout started and in her haste earlier she hadn't properly closed her purse. Something fell out of her purse onto the seat on the passenger side but she didn't notice. After she slammed her door shut, Jason opened one eye and watched her walk away trying to decide if Jet would think she was hot or not. He saw a small bottle on the seat. He quickly leaned over, grabbed it and opened the passenger door,

"Hey Mimi!! Mimi?!"

She was too far away by then and didn't hear him. He shut the door and sighed. He was about to settle back into the reclined driver's seat and was looking for somewhere to stash the bottle in his hand. He took a closer look at it and grinned. Jovan Vanilla Musk. He opened the bottle and sniffed tentatively. His grin widened,

"Damn you're good, Jet!"

He chuckled quietly as he put the bottle back on the passenger seat. Then he crossed his arms and huddled down in the driver's seat for another power nap.

Chapter 5

by Fidomom

Jason fought a yawn and stretched a bit as Mimi gathered her stuff and prepared to go in the house,

"Am I done for the day then?"

Mimi looked at him in curious appreciation,

"Yes Jason. Thanks for your help. No way could I have made it through today without you."

Jason's eyes narrowed suspiciously,

"What you really mean is if it wasn't for me picking you up late last night your day would have been a lot easier right?"

Mimi smiled at him in puzzlement,

"Are you still obsessing over that? Don't even worry about it Ja ..."

"I wasn't obsessing."

Mimi abruptly closed her mouth mid-sentence and her eyes widened,

"Ooookay then. I'll just go ... in ... now. Uhhh, Jase?"

"I know, I know! Yes I'll be on time in the morning!"

She smiled at him gently,

"I was just gonna say I hope you get a good sleep tonight, say maybe in your bed? Sleeping in a car seems to make you oh just a little bit grumpy. See you in the morning. Night Jase."

He scowled and tried not to feel pleased that she was concerned about him. Tried and failed. He scowled harder and pulled out of the driveway. As tired as he was he wanted to catch up with his best friend. First he needed to go home to shower.

He pulled into his driveway and pulled out his cell and his wallet. He yanked a piece of paper out of his wallet that had a number scribbled on it and quickly dialled it,

"Gimme Jet Kirk's room. Room 29 that's right. Come on Jet pick up. Where the hell are ya buddy? Fu ... it's about time! I was just about to hang up! What the fuck were you doing man?"

Jet chuckled,

"Hey Jase! I'd lay odds you and Vanilla musk had words! Why'nt you meet me at the Cheatin Heart for some brews and tell me the long story?"

Jason was glad his best friend couldn't see how red his face got when he mentioned Vanilla musk. He wasn't about to admit either that Jet was bang on the money about the mood he was in. He nodded tersely,

"Sounds good. I just gotta shit shower and shave. I'll grab a bite to eat on the way. 'Bout a half hour?"

Jet's grin made his eyes crinkle with understanding. Jason's lack of comment spoke volumes to him.

"Yeah Jase. Sure thing bud. See ya then."

Jason clicked off his cell and got out of the car. He got his key out but found he didn't need it. He wondered briefly who was home.

He slammed the door shut behind himself and headed for the stairs. He was taking the steps two at a time and wasn't watching where he was going. He bumped into somebody. Startled and annoyed he looked up into the eyes of his cousin,

"Leigh? What the hell are you doing here?"

She smirked at him,

"Nice to see you too cuz! Should watch where you're going!"

He scowled,

"What are you doing here?"

She sighed heavily and rolled her eyes at him,

"My parents have decided to go on a cruise and not only aren't they taking me with they aren't letting me stay home either! It was here or Gran's!"

Jason's eyes filled with horror,

"Good choice then. Sorry about nearly knocking you down but I'm kinda in a hurry! I'll catch up with you later maybe take you to the movies or something but right now I really gotta get going!"

Leigh laughed,

"Well whoever she is nice perfume!"

Jason's face registered his surprise,

"Huh?"

Leigh grinned and winked,

"You smell like girl's perfume Jason!"

His face and ears went scarlet,

"I need a fucking shower. Later Leigh."

When he was out of her line of vision he grabbed a handful of his shirt and sniffed it,

"How come I can't fucking smell it? What the fuck? Does she bathe in that stuff?"

He stepped into his private bathroom off his bedroom, shut the door with the knob lock engaged and quickly hucked off all his clothes. He turned the shower on, did his business, and then showered quickly. He headed to his bathroom vanity and slapped some shave cream on his face. A few quick strokes of the razor and his face was baby's bottom smooth. He was briefly grateful that despite his hurry he hadn't nicked himself. He was partially air dried by now. He squirted a dollop of hair gel in his palm and smoothed it through his wet hair, rinsed his hands, quickly fastened a small baby blue towel around his hips and went into his bedroom in search of clothes.

He pulled on a close-fitting royal blue cotton-blend t-shirt struggling a little when the material stuck to his still damp skin. He pulled on a pair of snug black jeans over his white boxer briefs. He quickly donned sports socks and all black Nike's. He went back into the bathroom to pick up his dirty clothes intending to run them down to the laundry room. As soon as he stood up with the bundle of clothes he caught a whiff of vanilla. He dropped all but his shirt and sniffed it harder,

"Holy fuck you'd think I was the one wearing it! Shit I don't have time for this!"

He almost dropped the shirt onto the rest of the clothes he'd dropped on the floor but at the last minute he instead threw it on his bed. He hurried down the stairs and out the door and didn't give the shirt or the scent on it another thought. He hadn't even noticed that the shirt landed on his pillow.

Chapter 6

by Fidomom

Jason was still fighting fatigue and seriously questioning how wise it was to have agreed to meet Jet for beer. He felt he could more use one of those mocha lattes that Mimi liked so much. He groaned inwardly, ~I'm off duty now. I don't need to even think about her so just quit it.~. He pushed through the entrance into the Cheatin' Heart and scanned the room through the smoke haze.

Jet saw him enter and held his hand up in the air to get his attention and motion him over. Jason nodded acknowledgement and walked over to sit in the chair across from him,

"Hey. S'up, Jet?"

Jet shrugged smiling,

"Beers are on their way. Cutest little waitress. Any idea who she is?"

Jason looked over to the bar and recognition filled his dark green eyes,

"Yeah. That's Shawn D's cousin Stephanie."

Jet looked over at her again,

"She's cute! You know her to talk to her?"

Jason shrugged,

"Not really."

Jet grinned,

"Good so she isn't one of your exes."

Jason smirked and his eyes narrowed,

"Don't start with that! Anyway I thought you were holding out for Leigh!"

Jet's face grew serious,

"She have another birthday? She legal yet?"

Jason grinned,

"Sorry dude another year to go."

Jet frowned in disgust,

"You bastard. Getting my hopes up like that."

Jason grinned,

"I think she still has a crush on you, too!"

Jet glared with mock menace,

"Just gotta throw it in my face dontcha!"

Jason shrugged and laughed good naturedly,

"Ain't my fault you're such a perv!"

The beers arrived just then and Jason sat rolling his eyes as Jet flirted with Stephanie. As soon as she left their table. Jet and Jason clinked glasses and Jet watched Jason carefully as he toasted,

"To our crushes!"

Jason put his glass down,

"Guess you're drinking alone. I don't have a crush on anyone and far as I know nobody's crushing on me."

Jet's mouth dropped open and he laughed in utter disbelief,

"Oh come on Jase! Seriously dude how long have you had a crush on this vanilla musk chick?"

Jason's face reddened and his lip curled,

"I don't. Crushes are for idiots."

Jet's brows rose,

"Let me rephrase then, How long have you been an idiot?"

Jason tried to be mad but he wound up laughing,

"Fuck you. Means you're an idiot too crushing on Leigh all this time when you know you can't have her! She's too good for the likes of you anyway!"

Jet's eyes filled with comprehension,

"Ah-a! And there it is. You think this ...??? Help me out here Jase what's her name?"

Jason spoke before he realised how loaded the question was,

"Mimi."

Jet's smug smile clued him in and he groaned as he leaned forward to rest his forehead against his clenched fist.

Jet continued,

"Mimi. Okay so you think this Mimi chick is unattainable and too good for you? Why?"

Without looking up Jason mumbled dejectedly,

"Long story."

Jet pushed Jason's cold mug of beer against his friend's knuckles and Jason's head snapped up. His eyes met Jet's cobalt blue unwavering gaze,

"Isn't that why we're here? Drink up and start talking, my friend."

Chapter 7

by Fidomom

Jet saw that Jason didn't know where to start so he prompted,

"Why don't you start with why you aren't driving your T-Bird?"

Jason visibly tensed,

"Because that fucking airhead scratched the shit out of it when I had just gotten it back from the custom paint job. She looked so beautiful too! Then I somehow get roped into a deal where I'm her fucking slave, driving her around to the gym, and Salem U and the hospital and everyfuckingwhere else in Salem her lil heart desires all in exchange for the use of her crappy wheels and she's the one who scratched MY car and now I've gotta wait six weeks to get it back! Oh and somehow I'm supposed to help her figure out what to do about her having a chauffeur once I do get my car back cuz no way in hell is she gonna be driving same streets as me and my T-bird ever again! She's a menace! Fucking airhead shouldn't be driving at all!! Still think I'm crushing on this chick, Jet? NOT!"

Jet stifled a chuckle,

"Matter of fact Jason I think it's gone way beyond crush. I think you're in love with her. But man oh man are you ever pissed at her ... I just don't think it's about your car. "

Jason looked positively baffled,

"What the fuck are you smoking Jet? Love her? Are you kidding me? I barely even like her! And fucking right I'm pissed at her and it is too about my car! Until two days ago she wasn't even in my life at all so how could there be any other reason?"

Jet grinned suddenly,

"Word! That is exactly why. Because she hasn't been in your life. I think you've decided to put her on your shit list and call her names so you won't feel like she's rejected you by being absent from your life. Sorry dude but your entire attitude about this Mimi chick smacks of you caring more than you are saying you do. You're clearly in love with her big time."

Jason was confused by Jet's logic,

"What?"

"The opposite of love isn't hate Jase- it's indifference. Not caring, not giving a thought or a rat's ass about someone is the opposite of loving them. She gets you this riled up and she isn't even here. Dude she so does have you over a barrel and you are just stubbornly refusing to acknowledge that! What I'd like to know is why?"

Jason shrugged and looked away,

"You are way off base my friend and anyway what would be the point? She's got a thing for brainiacs which is pretty fucking ironic considering she's not one either!"

Jet's brows furrowed,

"Easy there buddy, she can't be all that dumb if she's in college like you say she is. And what the fuck is up with this 'either' crap? Don't make me slap you upside your head! You're no dummy Jason."

Jason rolled his eyes,

"Yeah okay fine she's in college. She studies a lot too. Maybe you're right Jet, maybe she isn't exactly dumb but she sure comes across as an airhead most of the time."

It wasn't lost on Jet that Jason hadn't acknowledged his own intelligence. He decided to let it slide for now,

"So how do you know she likes brainiacs?"

Jason's lip curled in contempt,

"Cause her only steady boyfriend in highschool was the resident Geek Prince, Kevin Lambert. Smartest guy in the whole fucking school maybe even the whole state."

Jet nodded and called Stephanie over to refill their beer mugs and bring a bowl of peanuts in the shell. This time when he flirted with her she flirted back a little. When she left the table he fired off another question at Jason,

"So what broke them up or do you know?"

Jason laughed derisively as he cracked open a nut,

"He got accepted into some posh brainiac school in England but I think they were doomed from the get go anyway! I mean what the hell could they have possibly had in common? What the hell could they have ever even talked about?"

Jet winked and watched Jason carefully,

"Maybe they didn't do a lot of talking."

A dusky red flush colored Jason's cheeks and his eyes turned almost black. The muscle in his jaw was visibly clenching and unclenching,

"Whatever. Like I care!"

Jet just barely managed not to smile in triumph,

"So what was your nick name for Mimi in highschool?"

Jason looked flustered,

"I dunno uhh loser umm airhead? Why?"

Jet laughed incredulously,

"Let me get this straight ... you had fabulous creative names for the other 3 chicks you had crushes on but all you could come up with for Mimi was loser or airhead?"

Jason rushed to defend himself,

"Susan, Penny and Chloe were easy to nickname. They were all obviously weird and unpopular!"

Jet laughed again,

"Then weren't you risking your own popularity even asking them out? What would have happened if either Penny or Susan had turned you down?"

Jason colored and fought a grin as he ate another peanut,

"Nah, I wasn't risking fuck all, I woulda pretended I was just joking anyway; just trying to make a fool of them. If either of them had turned me down they would still be known by the nick names I gave them and I'd have still had my rep intact; I'd have still been popular! I think Penny only agreed to go out with me cuz she hated Jan more than she hated me and she wanted to get back at her. Plus she wanted an in with Hawk. After Penny and I split up, I asked Susan out on a whim expecting her to turn me down but by then she knew I had dated Penny and she surprised the shit outta me by saying yes. You know the rest!"

Jet grinned,

"Yep! Let me just say that the best thing that ever happened to me was her saying yes to you!"

Jason laughed,

"Yeah, I had no idea she'd become such a hottie and dump my ass almost a year to the day after her gastric bypass surgery or maybe I wouldn't have encouraged her to do it! And you were banging her not even a week later you dog!"

Jet laughed loudly,

"Look, I swear I didn't know that she was your ex! Some reason your name never came up during our bump and grind sessions!"

Jason gave his best friend a forced garish smile and flicked an empty peanut shell at him.

Jet only grinned and ducked to one side,

"Her and your buddy Tim still together?"

Jason nodded,

"Yep. They got married last summer. She even let me be his best man. Susan's cool."

Jet smiled fondly as he nodded his head in agreement,

"Yeah she's my only ex fling I can say that about. She still pretty hot?"

Jason grinned widely,

"Well she's starting to fit her old nickname again! Her and Tim are having a kid and she's lookin a lil rotund around the middle like in highschool but yeah other than that she still looks pretty hot."

Jet smirked,

"Other than that? Right! Like you ever minded her being big to begin with!"

Jason laughed,

"Yeah well I was curious and it turned out to feel pretty damn good, too! I think it's funny now that the very same guys who ribbed me about dating Shy Girl and Gigantor are now with them themselves! Guess you ain't the only one who doesn't mind my left-overs!

Jet flicked an empty shell at him for that remark and prompted

"So, what about Chloe? Do you ever wonder what if?"

Jason shrugged and pushed his chair back further from the table,

"You mean what if she wasn't already with Brady by the time Susan and I broke up?"

He made a jerking motion with his cupped hand at his groin while grinning widely,

"I 'wonder' all the time dude! All the time!"

Jet's blue eyes gleamed in amusement,

"Okay so let's get back to Mimi then ... what if you had asked Mimi out and she'd turned you down?"

Jason's eyes lost the gleam of humor,

"Mimi was different from them ... there wasn't anything wrong with her. If I'd ever asked her out and she'd said 'no', it would have looked bad on me; not on her. No way I could have lived that down."

Jet nodded,

"So why is it this is the first time I'm hearing about Mimi?"

Jason shrugged, looked away, then finally looked Jet directly in the eye,

"Waste of time for me to talk about her or think about her- I never stood a chance."

Jet raised his brows skeptically,

"Maybe then but what about now Jase?"

Jason countered with a grin,

"You gonna get Stephanie's phone number, tonight?"

Jet made a wry face and shook his head,

"No way. Leigh would be devastated."

Jason chugged the last few mouthfuls of his beer and excused himself to use the washroom. He turned back to Jet,

"When are you gonna quit hiding behind your crush on my cousin and get yourself a real girlfriend?"

Jet sucked in a breath,

"I'll get Stephanie to call us a cab."

Jason grinned and nodded,

"Yeah, that's what I thought."

Jason's avoidance of answering Jet's question told him that at least he'd made Jase think about it. He'd have to figure out a way to get Jason to act on his feelings for Mimi. He also had to find the courage to admit to Jason that Leigh was more than just a crush to him. Way more. He didn't foresee that going over too well. Not with Jason and definitely not with Leigh's parents either. Jet sighed heavily and took out his wallet to pay the tab. He paused to gaze wistfully at the picture he kept there of Leigh sandwiched between himself and Jason. They were all laughing. He shook off the loneliness, put some money on the table and stuffed his wallet back into his jeans pocket. He settled in to wait for Jase. The cab driver leaned on the horn just as Jason returned and the two friends left the Cheatin' Heart; each lost in their own thoughts.

Chapter 8

by Fidomom

Jet and Jason climbed into the back of the cab and Jet gave the driver Jason's home address. He turned to Jason then,

"I've got this covered."

Jason knew better than to argue. It occurred to Jason as they approached his neighbourhood that he hadn't informed Jet about his current house guest yet. They were about 5 minutes away from his place before he finally broke the silence,

"Hey, I suppose I shoulda mentioned this earlier but she's spending the next 3 weeks at my place."

Jet was clearly puzzled,

"Who is? Mimi?"

Jason's eyes widened,

"Fuck no! That's all I need is to have that vanilla crap inside the house! Bad enough I came home tonight smelling like it!"

Jet laughed momentarily side-tracked by Jason's little rant,

"How'd that happen? Were you hugging her or something?"

Jason's perturbed expression made Jet laugh loudly as Jason hurried to say,

"NO!"

Jet narrowed his eyes as he pondered,

"Did you happen to be near her when she put it on?"

Jason started to shake his head no then slapped his forehead,

"SHIT! YES! This morning! She dropped the bottle in the car and when she got back to the car she was babbling something about wondering where it was and then she just started spraying it! I had to roll down the window just to breathe!"

Jet shook his head and started laughing hard. When it seemed he couldn't stop, Jason interrupted him,

"It's not that funny! And anyway don't you want to know who my house guest is?"

Jet started to calm himself as he wiped at tears of mirth,

"Sure. Who's staying with you?"

Jason gave Jet an evil grin,

"Well I'll give you some clues ... she's 5'3, short brown hair, underraged, has a wild crush on you ..."

Jet had trouble breathing,

"Don't fuck around Jason. Are you serious? Leigh? For real?"

Jason nodded as a look of sympathetic understanding crept into his eyes,

"Yeah. For real."

Jet looked at his watch just as the driver pulled into Jason's driveway behind Mimi's car.

He implored Jason with his eyes and a hand on his arm,

"You have to let me come in Jase. Come on please? I have to see her. I promise I'll behave. I just want to say hello to her. I haven't seen her since Christmas. I won't stay long. Please?"

Jason rolled his eyes and sighed,

"Her parents would kill me for less."

Jet paid the driver and rushed Jason out of the cab,

"Thanks buddy. I owe you one for this."

Jason raised his eyebrows,

"You owe me more than one and for more than just this and you know it. If her parents find out I'm deader than roadkill. I shoulda kept my fucking yap shut."

Jet grinned in deep albeit smug appreciation,

"You're too good a friend to deprive me of the chance to see her."

Jason grinned and rolled his eyes,

"Actually Jet I'm starting to think you were right earlier ... what I am is an idiot!"

Jet grinned as he clapped Jason on the back and did his best impression of a slurring drunk,

"I love you man!"

Jason laughed and shrugged away from Jet,

"Fuck off! Cut that shit out you fucking homo!"

Jet laughed heartily,

"Fuck I love messing with you!"

Jason still laughing gave him the finger then motioned for Jet to follow him into the house,

"Come on already before I change my mind. She might not even still be up, you know."

Jason and Jet had barely made it over the threshold and shut the door when Jet looked up at the sound of his name being squealed. Leigh jumped off the fourth stair from the bottom, straight into Jet's arms, wrapping her legs around him and rained kisses on his face. Jet knew he was supposed to be discouraging this but he honestly thought if he died right then he'd die a happy man. Jason was so gonna kick his ass any minute but he didn't much care just then. He tightened his arms around her briefly, closed his eyes and breathed in deeply.

Chapter 9

by Fidomom

Jason looked up to see Leigh coming down the stairs in her PJ's . He saw her eyes widen and tear up, as a huge smile lit up her whole face when she saw who he was with,

"JET!"

Jason's heart stopped as she flew off the stairs and then started again in relief when Jet caught her easily. He knew he was supposed to interfere right about now. Knew it but couldn't do it. He hadn't seen his cousin smile like that since ... well since last time she'd seen Jet. To hell with his Aunt and Uncle, they weren't here. Besides it's not like Jet and Leigh were doing anything wrong ... exactly. He rolled his eyes as they kept up their PDA completely oblivious to him. To his surprise he saw Jet slowly putting a halt to Leigh's enthusiastic affection. Within seconds she was on her own two feet and Jet was merely smiling at her fondly,

"Easy there kiddo! I missed you too by the way."

Jet's heart constricted at the uncertainty in her eyes when he'd had to push her away. He'd tried to extricate himself as gently as possible but he could see she was hurt. He couldn't help himself and opened his arms. She smiled gratefully as she moved back into them. He gave her a hard squeeze and kissed her forehead. He waited for her to be the one to pull away this time and she did after only a few minutes. She looked up into his face,

"When did you get here?"

Jason interrupted them,

"Two days ago. Listen it's late guys you know you're both in town now. You've said your hellos now say goodbye. I have to get some sleep."

Leigh glared at him,

"Go ahead then. We'll be just fine catching up without you spying on us anyway."

Jason gave Jet a warning look and Jet picked up the cue,

"Sorry kiddo I can't stay anyway. I did really just stop in to say hello to you. Hey Jase can you call a cab for me? I'll wait for it outside. And don't look so sad kiddo, I'll be in town for a while yet and I hear you're in town for a few weeks too. We'll have planty of time to catch up. I promise okay?"

She couldn't hide the disappointment in her deep brown eyes but she nodded and tried to smile for him anyway. He dropped another kiss on the top of her head and her hands tried to linger on him but soon he was out the door. Jason went to call the cab and Leigh rushed upstairs to put some clothes on. Jason caught her with her hand on the doorknob trying to leave the house,

"And just where do you think you're going?"

Leigh scowled at him,

"To see Jet while he waits for the cab."

Just then they heard a car pull up. Leigh peeked through the window beside the front door just as Jet was climbing into the cab. She sagged in defeat and spun on Jason,

"Why do you have to be such a jerk? You know I love him! How could you not tell me he was in town? And why are you playing the heavy? Since when do you care what I do or with who?"

Jason clenched his fists and tried to give her a placating smile,

"Since always and you know it. I'm sorry I didn't tell you okay. You know you really should be dating guys your own age. This crush you have on Jet is getting a little out of hand. No wonder your parents are so freaked out."

Sparks of insulted outrage lit her dark eyes,

"It isn't a crush! I LOVE HIM! But you wouldn't know anything about that would you Jason? You don't know what it' s like. You've obviously never loved anyone or you wouldn't dare tell me all this is, is a crush! I may be younger than you cousin but at least I know what love is! It's what I feel for Jet. And I know he loves me too!"

Jason frowned,

"Leigh you're just setting yourself up to be hurt. Yeah okay maybe Jet does love you ... like a kid sister or something- not like what you are talking about. Just how creepy do you think he is that he'd be after you that way? I thought you had a better opinion of him than that? I know I do. Forget about him that way Leigh. He's your friend - that's it. You really oughtta give guys your own age a chance. You're a good looking girl. You shouldn't be pining away for someone you can't be with."

Leigh lifted her chin defiantly,

"Eat shit and choke on it! You are so wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Jet and I will be together someday and there's not a damn thing anyone can say or do to stop us!"

Jason's eyebrows rose in amusement at her vehemence and he tried not to smile knowing it would only infuriate her further,

"So when do you want me to take you out to the movies?"

Leigh was thrown for a loop. She'd been expecting him to get mad or to keep trying to change her mind,

"Never."

Jason grinned,

"Liar!"

Leigh tried not to smile in return but caved,

"Okay well maybe. When I'm not so pissed at you anymore, maybe then I'll let you treat me to a movie."

Jason laughed,

"Think you'll finish being pissed at me by Saturday?"

Leigh smiled and shrugged,

"Yeah. I guess. Maybe. But only if Jet comes too."

Jason narrowed his eyes and pursed his lips.He was torn between doing what her parents would want and doing what he knew would make both Jet and Leigh happy. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly,

"Fine but if your parents find out I'm selling out on both of you!"

Leigh squealed and flung her arms around Jason's neck. She kissed his cheek hard and quick,

"You're my favorite cousin!"

Jason gave her a funny look,

"I'm your only cousin."

She laughed over her shoulder as she bounded up the stairs,

"I know!"

Jason shook his head smiling fondly after her,

"Brat."

Then he looked at his watch and cursed aloud,

"Fuck."

He did a quick lights and locks check of the downstairs and headed up to his room. The minute he opened the door the scent of Jovan Vanilla Musk hit him,

"Great. That's just great."

He stripped down to his boxers, used the washroom, brushed his teeth, set his alarm, shut the light and climbed into bed. He bolted upright and flung the heavily perfumed shirt that had been on his pillow away from him. He lay back down and groaned. There was just no escaping it. He wished he had the time and energy to get up and change his bedding and mid thought he fell asleep.

Four hours later Jason rolled over onto his stomach, rubbed his cheek against his pillow as he hugged it and mumbled in his sleep,

"Mmm, smell so good Mimi."

Chapter 10

by Fidomom

Jason smiled as the water droplets fell upon him and soaked his skin. He murmured appreciatively when her tongue flicked across his nipple and up the column of his throat while she rode him. His hands gripped her hips as he helped her move over him. He felt the familiar thrill of impending orgasm. He took her nipple in his mouth briefly then kissed his way up to her ear,

"Mmm. Smell so good Mimi."

Jason awoke just as his alarm sounded. He lay on his back breathing hard feeling disoriented even as he automatically reached over to hit the 12 minute snooze bar. As he became more alert he realised what had happened. He switched on the bedside lamp and looked under the covers to confirm it. Hard as a rock, as well as residual evidence he'd already had a productive dream about her. Evidence that was partially dried up. He huffed audibly,

"Fuck, not again! I'm way too fucking old for this shit."

He quickly got up and put his sticky boxers in his now empty laundry basket. He almost headed for the shower. He looked down. It wasn't going to go away on it's own apparently. He considered getting out one of his porn magazines but by now he knew that wouldn't do it. Only one thing would. He sighed as he retrieved the now only lightly perfumed shirt from his top dresser drawer. He'd stashed it there to try to keep the perfume from permeating his room or so he told himself. He'd 'forgotten' to wash it with the rest of his laundry yesterday because it wasn't in sight. Forgotten. Right. As usual it only took about ten minutes once he had the shirt pressed against his mouth and nose as he breathed in the scent that had driven him crazy all through high school. He hadn't known what it was called back then. Knowing now in no way reduced it's effect on him. He let himself remember the dream. The feel of her. The feel of the rain as it soaked them. That damn scent. The scent of her. He groaned loudly as he came,

"Mmmimi!"

He was careful not to get his essence on the shirt as he stashed it back in his drawer. The snooze alarm sounded and he turned it off on his way to the bathroom to shower.

As he stood under the scorching hot spray his mind wandered over the events of the past few days. It had been a chaotic few days to say the least, now that he thought of it. Mimi wrecking his paint job on Sunday. Mimi nearly getting ... but no that had turned out okay, no thanks to him. Jet coming into town unexpectedly early, later the very same day. Leigh becoming his house guest on Monday. That was the day Mimi got her perfume all over his shirt. Beers with Jet that night and him figuring out way too quickly how he really felt about Mimi.

~Which is? Ahh hell! Doesn't even matter. It's moot.~

Trying to keep tabs on Leigh these past three days and nights since she'd found out Jet was in town. No small feat while being at Mimi's beck and call the whole time. Trying to keep tabs on Jet on top of that was proving impossible. He grinned at that thought,

"Like I ever could! I wonder if he's ever gonna make his move on Stephanie? He can't keep letting Leigh crush on him like this. Friend or not I swear if he hurts Leigh- I'll kill him. Why oh why did I agree to let Jet tag along for movie night? They're probably gonna be all googly eyes at each other all night- ugh! Yeah THAT should help her get over him! Oh man her parents will so kill me if they find out about this- right after they kill Jet for sniffing around where he shouldn't! I so gotta find a way to get Leigh to see Jet for the dog he is! It's for your own good buddy! Time for you to get yourself a real girlfriend! Maybe then Leigh will finally get on with her own life and start giving guys her own age the time of day."

He rinsed the thick, soap lather from his body. He was briefly distracted by the sight of the water cascading down his own chest and his mind touched on the dream he'd had about Mimi but he halted it by quickly turning the water to full cold,

"Oh no. Not going there! Bad enough I'll have to deal with the smell of that stuff all day. She better not give me any grief either about having her car for movie night tomorrow. She scratched MY car- ain't no way in hell I'm letting her forget that!"

Hard on the heels of his harshly uttered edict was the unbidden thought,

~I wish she was coming to movie ...oh man ... no ... no I don't. Get it out of your head Masters! Just forget that idea!~

He haphazardly dried his body with a towel. He put gel in his hair. He shaved. He grabbed his cologne and stopped short of putting it on,

"What in the hell? You aren't going on a date, you idiot!"

Another idea niggled in his brain,

~It might block out the smell of hers and stop any embarrassing situations from uhh cropping up.~

He splashed some on before he could talk himself out of it and rolled his eyes at himself as he couldn't help wonder if Mimi would notice and whether she would like it or not. He scowled into the mirror,

"I hope she hates it!"

~Who're you kidding? You're so fucking hopeless!~

He hurried into his bedroom to put clean clothes on. Dark beige, snug-fitting jeans over gray boxer-briefs. An Egyptian cotton. green camouflage patterned, tight T-shirt that showed off his well muscled chest, shoulders and biceps. Gray sport socks and tan Doc Martins.

He took the stairs two at a time and popped into the kitchen to grab a Special K cereal bar and an instant coffee. Now that he was getting used to Mimi's early schedule he found he was hungry for breakfast earlier as well. He snapped the lid onto his travel coffee mug and bit open the packaging on the cereal bar. He spat the torn off piece into the trash on his way out of the kitchen. He glanced at his watch as he opened the front door and breathed a triumphant sigh of relief before he could check himself,

"Yes! I'll be right on time!"

He hurried to get settled into the Sentra, begrudgingly admitting to himself that though it was no T-bird, it was a really comfortable, reliable vehicle ... and that he actually dug the way the interior smelled like her. He breathed deeply once with his eyes closed. He opened them again and with a grin plastered on his face, he backed the Nissan out of the driveway.

Chapter 11

by Fidomom

Mimi came out of the library and lost her breath to see Jason already there and leaning up against her car,

"Oh! You're earlier than usual."

His face remained impassive as he shrugged,

"I didn't go home to nap today."

Her eyes widened and then she smirked,

"Are you actually getting used to my schedule?"

Her teasing manner kinda surprised him and he smiled ,

"Maybe. Hey, here. I grabbed it on my way over. Now you won't have to stand in line."

To Mimi's surprise he turned around and grabbed two enormous cups of coffee from off the roof of the car directly behind him; hidden until that moment by his broad chest and shoulders. For the brief moment he wasn't looking, her eyes devoured his body. When he turned to face her holding out one of the steaming cups to her she looked blankly at it. Jason tried to catch her eye,

"Yo! Mimi! Don't you want this? Wrong one or something?"

Mimi smiled at his choice of words as she finally reached out to accept the cup from him,

"Yes of course I do, Jason. Thank-you. Mmmm! Nope - definitely the right one!"

Jason was inordinately pleased he'd gotten it right and smiled for about two seconds until he inwardly berated himself for caring at all,

"So you wanna stand here and drink that or head directly to the school?"

Mimi's heart sank. She had actually dared to hope he'd gotten her the coffee to be nice but he seemed to be in as big a hurry as usual,

"We can go now, Jason. Thanks again for the coffee. It saved us both some time. Here's what I owe you for it."

Jason frowned at the money she held out to him,

"Keep it. I don't want your money."

He got into the car and Mimi followed suit.

She offered again,

"Are you sure, Jason? Cuz I woulda had to pay anyw..."

He continued to face forward and tersely cut her off,

"You done up?"

She saw the muscle in his jaw twitching and tucked her money away,

"Yes."

He put the car into drive and drove over to Salem U. Mimi frowned in puzzlement when he didn't just pull up to the main entrance to drop her off like he usually did but instead parked the car in the lot and got out.

She was struggling with her half full coffee cup and her book tote as she tried to get out of the car, when Jason surprised her by taking both out of her hands. He handed them back to her once she'd made it out of the car. He remote locked the car. She tried to smile her thanks but he missed it as he turned to grabbed his own cup from the roof. He walked in tandem with her to the main building. She finally stopped and looked at him in confusion when he opened the main door for her,

"What are you doing Jason?"

He widened his eyes like he thought it should be obvious,

"Going into the school."

She pressed for more information,

"Okay. Why?"

He gently nudged her to continue through the doorway,

"Gotta pick up some brochures and an application."

She asked over her shoulder as she preceeded him into the school,

"For yourself or someone else?"

Jason was looking around distractedly for some indication of where he should be headed,

"Uhh, no not for me. Listen I gotta go. I'll see you at 2."

He got about 20 feet away when he heard Mimi call out his name. He turned back to her,

"What?"

Mimi smiled and motioned him back,

"Wrong way. You'll find what you're looking for this way. Come on thanks to you I've got a few minutes to spare. I'll take you there."

His face colored slightly,

"I can find it on my own."

She narrowed her eyes at him in a challenge,

"Sure, you can Jason, but do you want to be finding it on your own all day or does finding it now seem like a better idea?"

He rolled his eyes and fought a losing battle with his grin,

"Fine. Lead on. And it so would not take me all day to find it."

Mimi held her laugh in check,

"Uh-huh."

Her perfume found it's way to his olfactory sense as he followed closely behind her down some twisty turny corridors and he started hoping that it really would take all day. Less than 7 minutes had passed since they'd arrived when Mimi turned toward a big door marked Student Services and opened it. She went inside with him and pointed him in the direction of the brochures and applications. He didn't say thanks but she hadn't really expected him to. She turned to leave but stopped. She went over to the brochures and quickly scanned them. She smiled when she found what she wanted. She went over to Jason and tapped him on the shoulder. He jumped slightly,

"What?"

Mimi smiled smugly at him,

"I'm going to class now. Here. Thought this might come in handy."

He looked in curiosity at what she had handed him and couldn't help grinning,

"Thanks, Mimi."

He looked up and was startled to find she'd already gone. His shoulders sagged slightly. He shrugged, shoved the campus/school map she'd given him into his back pocket and continued looking for the brochures Leigh wanted.

Chapter 12

by Fidomom

Mimi watched in barely concealed lust as Jason hoisted the heavy bags of groceries as though they were air and carried them into her kitchen for her,

"On the counter?"

Mimi was busy looking at the way his muscles moved under his thin white cotton T-shirt,

"What? Oh. The counter. Yeah the counter is good. The counter is very good."

He gave her a funny look and went to get the rest of her groceries. Mimi held onto the counter trying to calm herself,

"What was I thinking? Five more weeks of this torment? Oh dear God, does he have to look that good?"

Jason re-entered the kitchen with the last of her groceries and he was stopped short by the way she was standing at the counter. He groaned inwardly wondering how the hell he was to get through the next five weeks without making a fool of himself. He fought the urge to drop the groceries and just get it over with right then and there,

"This is the last of them, Mimi. You uhh need any help putting any of this stuff away?"

She was tempted to use that as an excuse to keep him there longer but she didn't want him getting suspicious,

"No. That's okay Jason. Thanks for bringing them in for me."

Jason shuffled his feet, stalling and finally managed to ask,

"So what are you doing tonight?"

Comprehension lit Mimi's eyes even as she felt the sting of disappointment that the question wasn't a prelude to him asking her out,

"Ohh! The car. Yours from now until tomorrow morning. Belle is gonna drive us around in her car tonight."

Jason was a bit disappointed. So she did already have plans. It was just as well. Even if she didn't she probably would have laughed in his face anyway. He silently berrated himself for almost proving Jet right and doing something so idiotic as asking out a guaranteed "no" girl. Then he would have had to deal with her for five more weeks with her having that to lord over him. He mentally shrugged and chalked it up to a close call. He pulled what could almost pass for a smile,

"Alright then. See you tomorrow."

She nodded,

"Yeah. See you tomorrow Jason."

She covertly watched him leaving through the window until her car was out of sight.

Jason and Mimi unbeknownst to each other sighed heavily in unison,

"Five more weeks."

Mimi proceeded to put away her groceries and Jason went to go pick-up Jet. Leigh had managed to invite him over for an early dinner before the three of them went to the movie tonight. As far as Jason was concerned, as long as her parents didn't find out, everything was cool.

Chapter 13

by Fidomom

On their drive over to his place to have dinner, Jason was telling Jet about trying to find his way back to the car yesterday after he'd picked up the stuff Leigh had wanted. After being lost for over half an hour he'd eventually remembered the map Mimi had given him and finally found his way back outside. Jet was laughing heartily enough at this point for his eyes to tear up,

"So did you tell her you got lost, Jase?"

Jason let out an incredulous chuckle,

"No fucking way, man! Uh-uh! I'm not giving her any ammunition to shoot me down with! She's on my case enough without it!"

Jet gave him a curious look,

"On your case how?"

Jason shrugged,

"I dunno .. it's weird. She's always criticising me about something. She even tried telling ME how to drive better! I couldn't fucking believe it! Chick scratches my car and then tries to tell me how to drive! You know what really burns me though? Is when she gets on my case for no reason at all! Like if she even thinks I'm gonna do something wrong! Same fucking thing in highschool too, man! She was always elbowing me or stomping on my foot for no reason at all! I think I spent most of highschool saying, 'Ow! What the hell is your problem?'"

Jet looked at his best friend amazed he could be so blind,

"You're kidding right?"

Jason frowned,

"Naw. For real. She was always on my case like that."

Jet chuckled,

"So this Mimi chick was bullying the school bully? Is that what you're telling me?"

Jason shot him a perturbed look,

"What the fuck ever man! I dunno. I guess. I never thought of it that way. Besides it's not like I was scared of her or nothing."

Jet's eyebrows rose,

"Now you are lying! And you're still scared shitless of her!"

Jason grimaced,

"Fuck you. No I'm not."

Jet chuckled,

"Oh man you got it bad my friend! Worse than I even realised."

Jason was annoyed,

"How do you figure?"

Jet laughed and clapped a hand on Jason's shoulder,

"No dude! I ain't telling you shit! You'll figure it out soon enough on your own!

Jason shot him a quick glare and gave him the finger as he pulled into the driveway.

Jet just laughed and shook his head. They got out of the car and walked toward the house.

Jet's heart was beating faster already just knowing he'd be seeing Leigh any moment.

He didn't have long to wait. She flung open the door and greeted Jet with her usual enthusiastic affection. Jason winced thinking she was making a fool of herself,

"Take it easy there cuz! Would you let us get in the door at least?"

Leigh stuck her tongue out at Jason and partially released Jet from the big hug she'd just laid on him. Jet hesitated uncertainly,

"Are your parents home, Jase?"

Jason shook his head,

"No man. They're gone until Friday next week."

That cinched it for Jet. He decided to follow his heart for a little while. He pulled Leigh back into his arms to hug her back properly,

"Then chill out and cut Leigh some slack buddy! Far as I'm concerned Leigh, you can hug me like this any old time you want to! Oh. Hmmm. I guess except if either yours or Jason's folks are around!"

He winked and smiled at her as he released her, loving the way it made her eyes shine up at him.

Jason rolled his eyes at them both,

"Yeah, okay whatever! What are we having? Pizza? Chinese? KFC?"

Leigh shook her head,

"No delivery fast food. I made dinner."

Jason's jaw dropped open,

"You?! You feeling alright? You hate cooking!"

Leigh cocked a wry smile,

"Yeah but I'm cursed with being good at it anyway!"

Jet laughed out loud,

"Oh I smell it now! What is that? Pasta? Something Italian for sure! It sure smells good!"

Leigh beamed proudly,

"It's chicken cacciatore thank-you very much!"

Jason grinned,

"Hey Leigh? Do you know that you're my favorite cousin?"

She grinned at him with narrowed eyes,

"Watch it now that's my line!"

Jason laughed and tried to mess her hair. She ducked, laughing as she smacked his hand away for his effort.

Jet watched the exchange between them with a wistful smile then he cleared his throat and rubbed his hands together greedily,

"I'm starving! What can we do to help?"

Jason held his hands up,

"Whoa! Speak for yourself, dude! I'm on post meal KP!"

Leigh's jaw dropped open,

"Oh of course cuz! Hope you don't sprain anything pushing the button on the dishwasher!"

Jason colored slightly and defended,

"There's a bit more to it than that."

Jet and Leigh rolled their eyes at him. He just shrugged and grinned refusing to be guilted. He plopped down on the sofa, put his feet up on the coffee table, and turned on the tv,

"Let me know when it's time to eat!"

Leigh glared at him but kept her grin. She turned to Jet,

"Only thing left is setting the table and last minute prep for the Caesar salad."

Jet puffed out his chest mock proudly,

"I been known to set a mean table."

Leigh giggled appreciatively,

"Thanks Jet!"

On her way to the kitchen she passed behind the sofa and couldn't resist a quick smack at the back of Jason's head. He ducked away too late and laughed,

"Ow! Hey watch it!"

Jet saw what Leigh had done and gave her thumbs up. Leigh winked, smiled smugly and went into the kitchen. Jet waited until Jason was relaxed and engrossed in the reality TV program he'd turned to, then he walked up behind the sofa and did the exact same thing Leigh had just done.

Jason laughed,

"Ow! What was that for?"

Jet grinned and shrugged,

"Leigh seemed to think it was fun. Turns out it is!"

Jason's laugh turned incredulous,

"Oh and this is the thanks I get for letting you even be here!"

Jet's smile fell and he reached out to smooth Jason's hair,

"You're so right. I love you man!"

Jason whacked his hands away laughing in embarassment,

"Fuck off Jet!  Go set the damn table ... Molly Maid!"

Jet ignored the jibe and was laughing heartily as he went to do just that.

With Jet and Leigh both otherwise occupied, Jason concentrated on the tv screen. He had no idea what he was watching though, because he was too busy thinking about Mimi. He wondered who she was going out with tonight- just Shawn and Belle or did she have a date? He wondered where they were going. He found himself hoping they'd be at the movies too,

"Yeah right."

"Uhh, Jase? The people on the tv can't actually hear you buddy!"

Jason didn't even look up to flip Jet the mandatory finger. He smirked when he heard Jet laugh.

Less than a minute later, Leigh walked into the combined living-dining room,

"Food's ready! Turn that crap off too, Jase or you don't get fed!"

Jason grinned. She knew him too well,

"That's low cuz!"

He turned off the tv and sat down at the table to eat with them.

Chapter 14

by Fidomom

Jason dropped off Jet and Leigh outside the main theatre doors and went to find parking. With Jason gone and not scrutinising them Jet and Leigh both relaxed a little. Both of them unknown to the other were pretending in their mind that they were on a real date even if only for the few minutes Jason would be absent. As they stood in the ticket line-up, Leigh cautiously and full of hope slipped her diminutive hand into Jet's. He looked momentarily startled but didn't pull his hand away. He tightened his grip and gave her that charming wink and smile she so loved. Leigh blushed with pleasure and smiled up at him,

"So I still don't know why you are in town, Jet. Business or pleasure?"

He paused at her words as he thought to himself ~Right this minute definitely pleasure.~,

"Well technically it's business but you know me!"

She giggled and nodded,

"Oh yeah! So what's the business part?"

Jet was having difficulty concentrating on her words as he watched her mouth when she spoke. He showed no outward sign of his inner struggle,

"I'm looking into starting up a machine shop here. This is on the QT by the way. Haven't even told Jase yet. I'm hoping he'll help me out with it though if the deal goes through. I don't want to get his hopes up just yet. What about you? Jase said something about brochures you wanted from Salem U. Anything you feel like sharing?"

They were startled by Jason physically separating their hands at that moment,

"Geez you guys, can't leave you two alone for two minutes! This is a small town, people talk! All I need is to catch hell from my parents, Aunt and Uncle for even leaving Leigh alone with you, Jet but do you have to make things worse by holding hands like that as if you're a couple?!"

Jet colored slightly and looked at his feet,

"You're right Jase. Sorry. I should have known better."

Jet noticed the hurt, disappointed look on Leigh's face and felt awful. He tried to smooth her feelings with a wink and a small smile as he offered,

"I just can't help wanting to hold the hand of the prettiest girl I've ever met."

It worked. The bright glow returned to her face and her eyes shone with happiness again. Jet's sigh of relief was cut short as Jason groaned aloud and pulled him off to the side. He spoke so quietly that despite her attempts to eavesdrop Leigh couldn't make out a single word being said. She could only tell that Jason was not impressed. She was right.

Jason spoke through clenched teeth with a warning note in his voice,

"Dude comments like that so do not help. How do you expect her to ever get over you? She's just a kid for crying out loud! I mean I know we joke around and stuff about you having a crush on her but really Jet come on we both know it's just a joke - but she doesn't! Stop leading her on cuz you're just gonna hurt her and if you do that I'm gonna have to kick your ass for you! You got me?"

Jet contemplated confessing to Jason right then but he couldn't. He couldn't bear the thought of his best friend losing all respect for him. He looked properly contrite as he nodded. He really couldn't help but admire and respect Jason's protective stance over Leigh, anyway. He knew she was lucky to have Jason looking out for her,

"Yeah Jase. I got you buddy. You gotta know I'd never want to hurt her though right? I mean I don't mean to lead her on ... it's just she gets this look in her eyes like a wounded puppy if I don't flirt back. I'll ease up though from now on. For real. We cool?"

Jason nodded and pounded the bottom of a closed fist against the topside of Jet's closed fist,

"Yeah. Course. I'm not mad Jet I just worry about her. She's family, ya know?"

Jet nodded,

"Yeah. Fair enough, buddy."

They returned to Leigh's side. She scowled at Jason and smiled up at Jet. Jason rolled his eyes in exasperation. They moved forward in line for the movie tickets and Jason slid some money through the ticket window,

"Three for Kill Bill combo."

The guy in the ticket booth took Jason's money and gave him the tickets and his change. They walked into the lobby and crossed the room to the concession line-ups.

"Hey cuz, we're gonna go nab some seats for us. Why don't you order up the refreshments and I'll come back in a few to help carry them?"

Leigh shrugged and refused to look at Jason,

"Fine. Whatever. I have to go to the ladies' room first. Keep a place in the line for me. I won't be long."

Jason and Jet looked at each other with wide eyes at her moody exit. Jet whistled low,

"Dude I think you pissed her off with your chaperone tactics."

Jason's face reflected his regret about her thinking he was being a jerk,

"I'll get her to come around. I'm still her favorite cousin even if she is a little pissed at me right now."

Jason's voice trailed off and Jet saw his gaze shift and lock on something across the lobby. He looked to try to figure out what had distracted him and saw a very pretty auburn-haired girl staring back at them. Jet smiled as a he had a sneaking suspicion who it was. Jason was fighting to control the unfamiliar knot of jealousy in his guts when Mimi saw Jet and quite obviously found him attractive.

When Mimi realised she'd been caught staring at Jason, she shifted her gaze to the kinda cute guy standing beside him and tried to get her breath back as her mind spun,

~Why? Why does Jason always have to look that good? Why is it everywhere I go lately there he is? Duh! Probably because he usually takes you everywhere you go. But here? Tonight? Why? Why does he have to be here? I wonder if I should go over and say hi at least? No. He's got a friend with him. I don't want to intrude. There. See? He doesn't want me to. He's already looking away. Damn my nervous bladder! I hope Belle and Shawn don't think I've left when they come back from parking the car.~

Mimi had to walk directly past Jet and Jason on her way to the women's washroom. Jet sniffed the air slightly as she did and smiled knowingly at Jason. Jason blushed,

"Shut up."

Jet raised his hands in mock surrender,

"I didn't say a word!"

Jason mumbled as he looked at his feet,

"Good. Keep it that way. I don't wanna hear it."

Jet grinned but obliged by keeping quiet.

Jason started to fidget and he looked at his watch,

"So much for not being long. What the hell is keeping Leigh?"

Jet laughed,

"Hey Jase?"

Jason looked at him blankly,

"Yeah?"

Jet's grin widened,

"She's cute!"

Jason started to protest but then just shrugged and nodded, feeling inexplicably pleased by Jet's comment,

"Yeah, I guess."

Jet shook his head at his friend and chuckled,

"Yeah you guess!"

Jason gave him a warning glare and Jet laughed and made a zip motion across his lips. The line-up they were in moved forward bringing them to the counter. Jason placed their orders, while Jet's mind drifted to Leigh. He too wondered, mildly concerned just what was keeping her this long?

Chapter15

by Fidomom

Leigh had been on her way back to Jet and her obnoxious cousin when she saw some girl staring at Jason, blush then fix a blank gaze on Jet. Then she saw the girl take a deep breath and walk toward the guys. Leigh held back curious about who this girl was, that obviously had the hots for her cousin. When Leigh realised the girl meant to walk past Jet and Jason she knew where she was headed. Leigh quickly ducked around the corner to wait for her to pass by. When she caught a whiff of that perfume Jason always smelled of lately she did some math and almost laughed out loud. She peeked at the guys and sure enough Jason was pacing, blushing and glaring at Jet. Leigh smiled smugly to herself,

~So cuz, you wanna mess with my love life do you? Let's see how you like it.~

Leigh walked purposefully back to the women's washroom and fiddled with her hair and make-up some more waiting for Mimi to exit one of the stalls. When Mimi stepped up to the mirror right beside her, Leigh turned to her and blurted out,

"You smell just like Jason!"

Mimi flustered immediately at hearing someone say out loud the very name on her own mind,

"Huh? Jason who? And what do you mean?"

Leigh laughed and touched Mimi's arm,

"Oh sorry, I do that sometimes; you know blurt stuff out at total strangers. You probably don't even know him. Jason Masters. He's been driving some other girl's dinky little car around and it reeks oops sorry I mean it smells just like the perfume you're wearing. I'll be so glad when he gets his T-Bird back cuz well her car is nice and all but the backseat isn't very comfortable. Anyway sorry to have rambled on at you like this. You must think I'm completely nuts."

Mimi showed no outward reaction as she calmly assured,

"No problem. I'm used to it. Jason tactlessly blurts stuff out all the time, too. It so happens it's my car he's been driving around."

Leigh couldn't help but be impressed. This girl was a straight shooter. No wonder her cousin had it so bad for her. Leigh feigned embarassment,

"Oh my God I'm so sorry! Please don't tell him I told you he thinks your perfume reeks! He'll be so mad at me!"

Mimi's cheeks pinked up a little,

"He thinks ... oh, I see. I have to go now."

Mimi hastily left the washroom. Leigh actually did feel a little bit guilty. She really hadn't meant to hurt the girl's feelings. She had only meant to give Jason some grief for a change.

She followed close behind Mimi but held back when she saw Mimi walk up to Jason and tap him on the shoulder.

Jason turned at the touch knowing full well who it was. He tried to maintain an impassive expression,

"Yeah?"

The look in her eyes startled him. She looked furious.

"Let's just be very clear about one thing Jason, there will be no more sexual escapades in the backseat of MY car!"

Leigh giggled behind her hand as she saw the stunned, utterly puzzled look on Jason's face as he watched Mimi stomp off in a huff. His face reddened as he realised many pairs of eyes and ears had borne witness to that little exchange. Jet clapped him on the shoulder,

"Gee Jase you holding out on me, buddy? You never said you scored with her already!"

Jason pushed Jet away from him shaking his head in denial,

"I have no fucking clue what she is talking about. Why the hell does she think I had sex in her c- ... LEIGH!!!"

Leigh was openly laughing out loud as she re-joined them in the concession area,

"Sorry cuz but you had it coming! Besides at least now you know she likes you, too!"

Jason's face contorted in disbelief,

"Likes me? Where the hell do you get that? She just reamed me out in public ... and for something I didn't even do!"

Leigh's eyes widened in shock,

"Jason you're missing the point."

He looked from Jet to Leigh and back,

"Huh? What? What point am I missing?"

Leigh took a deep breath and would have clued him in but Jet stopped her,

"It's best to just let him figure this one out on his own Leigh."

Jason gave up trying to figure out what just happened. He narrowed his eyes at Leigh,

"So just who does she think I had sex with anyway? What the hell did you say to her?"

Leigh started to look a little sheepish,

"Well I may have misled her a tiny little bit. All I said was that the backseat of her car wasn't as comfy as the backseat of your T-Bird."

Jason frowned,

"Well it isn't. The backseat of my T-Bird was custom installed for optimum comfort. So what? What's that got to do with .. ohhh ... ewww ... Leigh! You mean she thinks ... but you're my cousin! As if she thinks I'd do that with my cousin nevermind that you're underaged!"

Leigh reddened,

"I kinda didn't tell her we were cousins and you know Jase not everybody can tell just by looking at me that I'm not 16 yet!"

Jason closed his eyes and sighed in exasperation. He looked to Jet. Jet shrugged,

"Not much you can do about it now. Let's go watch the movie. I'm sure you and Mimi will have a very interesting conversation tomorrow. I am already anticipating hearing every juicy word!"

Jason groaned and rolled his eyes,

"Fuck. Okay fine let's go watch the movie. Here you two can carry your own snacks. Hopefully we can still find some seats, no thanks to you, cuz. Fucking brat."

Leigh bit her lip and wondered if she'd gone too far. Jason seemed really upset with her. They were about to go into the theatre when they heard a female voice raised in protest. They all turned to look,

"No Shawn! I mean it! I really don't want to see Kill Bill! Anything but that!"

Shawn looked at Mimi and shrugged,

"Sorry Meems. Looks like we won't be seeing Kill Bill tonight afterall."

Mimi sagged in defeat,

"Well that's just great! I already bought my ticket! Come on Belle please? You know I hate watching movies by myself."

Belle spotted Jason looking over at them,

"Jason's over there. Looks like he and his friends are seeing Kill Bill. Why don't you see if you can sit with them?"

Mimi shook her head,

"In the words of Buffy, "A world of no!"

"Why not? You're certainly welcome to join us. It's Mimi right?"

Mimi turned to find the girl from the bathroom standing there smiling a friendly smile,

"Yes. I mean no. I mean yes my name is Mimi and no really I couldn't possibly."

Leigh looked sad,

"It's because of me isn't it? I'm Leigh. Leigh Masters. Jason's cousin. I usually get to ride shotgun but his best friend got to tonight."

Mimi took a few seconds to absorb what she said. Her face turned red as she realised Jason must think she was nuts telling him not to have sex in her car anymore. She frowned at the girl,

"Why did you do that?"

Shawn and Belle looked at each other completely baffled about what the two girls were talking about. Belle caught Mimi's eye, pointed to her watch and made hand gestures indicating that she and Shawn were going to go see the movie they'd decided on. Mimi nodded and returned her full attention to Leigh.

Leigh felt she owed Mimi an explanation but it was too complicated to get into and there really wasn't time- they'd already missed half of the movie previews and she didn't want to miss the beginning of the movie. She smiled reassuringly,

"I promise I'll explain later but the movie's gonna start really soon. Come sit with us. The guys have already found us some seats. Please, Mimi? I feel really badly about earlier."

Mimi still hesitated,

"I really don't think Jason ..."

"Yo! Leigh! Movie's about to start you coming or what?"

Leigh smiled,

"Yeah. Mimi's gonna watch the movie with us. You don't mind do you, Jason?"

Mimi reddened and glanced at Jason apprehensively expecting him to protest.

He could tell she was embarrassed about earlier. He was surprised that he wanted to reassure her that all was cool. His heart raced when he realised suddenly that his earlier wish was about to come true. Mimi was gonna be watching the movie with him afterall. He gave nothing away outwardly,

"Fine. Whatever. Let's just go sit down."

Leigh looked at Mimi and winked,

"See? He doesn't mind and it's better than sitting all by yourself."

Mimi sighed and nodded as she followed Leigh into the darkness of the theatre. When they got to the seats Jet was saving for them, Jet stood up to let the girls in first. He smiled and gave thumbs up to Jason. Jason gave him a warning look and shook his head. Mimi sat furthest in. Leigh sat beside her and her face fell in disappointment when Jason rather than Jet sat next her. The four sat looking at the movie screen feeling pretty much equally miserable about the seating arrangements. Three of them were resigned to it. One devious brunette was not. She smiled to herself as her mind began to toy with some ideas on how to get the seating rearranged to everyone's satisfaction. She settled in and pretended to watch the movie. It was gonna be a long one. She had plenty of time to put her ideas into play.

Chapter 16

by Fidomom

About forty minutes into the movie during a Japanese anime sequence, Leigh heard Mimi exclaim almost under her breath,

"I love this part!"

Leigh's eyes lit up with a plan to finally get the seating arrangements reordered to all of their liking. She wouldn't be able to do it without Jet's help and funnily enough Jason's unwitting help. She almost giggled in her realisation that at least the guys in question were particularly easy for her to manipulate. She leaned toward Mimi,

"Psst! How can you watch a movie without any movie snacks? "

Mimi nodded,

"I know! I meant to grab an extra butter popcorn and a diet cola but things out there were kinda rushed. I'll go for a snack run as soon as the scene where Oren Ishi tells off the suits at the table is over."

Leigh smiled bewildered,

"Suits? Table? Huh?"

Mimi laughed at something in the subtitle dialogue in the sushi bar scene,

"Oh sorry it's an upcoming scene. Didn't mean to spoil you. I've seen this volume already just haven't seen the second volume yet."

Leigh elbowed Jason. He looked at her while trying not to miss the subtitles as the dialogue was particularly funny,

"What?"

Leigh leaned up and whispered in his ear,

"I feel really bad about the prank I pulled earlier. I'm sorry."

Jason shrugged,

"Don't worry about it. I'll deal with her later."

Leigh whispered again,

"Mimi didn't get any movie snacks. You should go get her some."

Jason scowled,

"Me? Why?"

Leigh shrugged and smiled unseen by Jason,

"Cuz you've already seen this. Anyway whatever. Nevermind then. She said she's gonna go get her snacks herself right after Oren Ishi tells off the Japanese suits whatever that means."

Jason shrugged and nodded not letting on his surprise that Mimi had already seen the movie too,

"Good so why you bugging me to do it? Let her go get 'em herself."

Leigh shrugged,

"Okay fine Jase but do you really think she'll come back and sit with us after? I know I wouldn't want to squeeze past three people twice when they are trying to watch a movie, especially if one of the people was being as unfriendly to me as you've been to her tonight."

Jason didn't respond. Leigh hadn't expected him to. She had planted the worry in Jason's mind and she knew it was just a matter of time now. She smiled when two minutes later Jason sighed and got up. He squeezed past Jet and spoke to him quietly,

"Snack run. Want anything?"

Jet shook his head,

"Naw I'm good. Your boss lady doesn't have ..."

Jason interrupted,

"I already know that. I'll be right back. Just don't let her leave and don't get any ideas about stealing my seat to sit beside Leigh either."

Before Leigh could start working on Jet to help her with her plan he got her attention,

"Psst! Switch seats with me!"

Leigh was surprised and puzzled,

"Why?"

Jet grinned,

"Do you trust me?"

Leigh grinned back and switched seats with Jet.

Mimi was getting kinda nervous. First Jason up and left making her wonder if it was because of her. She thought maybe it was and she had nearly made up her mind to just leave and go home. Suddenly Leigh was getting up too but before Mimi could ask where she was going Jason's cute friend sat beside her where Leigh had been and Leigh was now sitting where he had been. Mimi sensed something was going on but she didn't know what. Jet leaned closer to her and put out his left hand to shake,

"Hi. I'm Jet."

Mimi smiled a little uncertainly but shook his hand,

"Hi. I'm Mimi. Nice to meet you Jet."

Jet smiled encouragingly,

"Don't look so nervous. I won't bite. Jason and I may be best friends but we are very different."

Mimi laughed a little,

"Yes. That much I could tell!"

Jet got right to the point,

"So how long you been in love with him?"

If Mimi had been expecting the question she may have been able to come up with a denial. All she could manage was a sharp intake of breath.

Jet put his arm around her shoulders and squeezed reassuringly,

"Relax, Mimi. He hasn't figured it out yet and I sure as hell won't tell him. My advice to you though is be in his face obvious. Subtle and tentative are completely lost on him."

Mimi hedged,

"I'm not saying you're right ... cuz anyway you so aren't but you make it sound like I could actually get him to stop hating me ... maybe?"

Jet's eyes widened,

"You're kidding right? Oh shit! You aren't either. Tell you what Mimi. When Jase gets back if he lets me sit beside Leigh and I'm certain he will that's your green light to go for him with everything you've got! Just tolerate my arm around you until ... well for a while longer anyway. Can you handle that?"

Mimi was still embarassed and puzzled but she nodded anyway,

"What do you mean by lets you sit beside her? Is there a reason that would be a problem?"

Jet nodded,

"Yep. She's underraged. She has a crush on me and I'm head over heels in love with her. Huh. That's the first time I've said that out loud. Haven't had the guts to even tell Jase yet. He thinks I'm a perv for even flirting with her. Hard to say if our friendship will survive when I tell him the truth. Plus her parents hate me because Leigh is very outspoken about her crush on me. They want her to date guys her own age and she keeps citing her crush on me as the reason she won't. Apparently the fights about it between her and her folks gets pretty nasty."

Mimi's heart melted in sympathy,

"What about Leigh? Does she know how you feel?"

He frowned thoughtfully,

"I think she knows I love her just not that it's that way, you know?"

Mimi nodded and smiled kindly,

"Well not that my opinion matters very much but I don't think you're a perv at all. You're very sweet. She won't be underraged forever right? If the love you feel is real it'll wait for the right time ... just gotta be patient. Easier said than done I know but still it's not impossible."

It was Jet's turn to experience a sharp intake of breath,

"Wow. Where have you been all this time? What you just said has helped me in ways I can't even express right now. Thank-you Mimi. Jason's a damn lucky guy. Your own patience will pay off too Mimi you'll see."

Mimi sighed heavily,

"Yeah right. Once I get him to stop hating me it should be easy to get him to fall ... uhh nevermind."

Jet grinned and impulsively kissed the side of her head,

"You're closer than you realise!"

Suddenly popcorn and a beverage were practically shoved in Mimi's face. She looked up startled to see Jason offering them to her. She hadn't even noticed him return. She couldn't see his eyes but she recognized the twitch in his jaw and her heart sank. She wondered what she'd done to piss him off this time. Maybe it was just the fact she was there at all. She accepted the snacks awkwardly,

"Oh. You didn't have to ... I mean I would have ... uhh thanks, Jason."

Jason had already sat down between Jet and Leigh but he leaned over to blurt out to Mimi,

"I forgot to ask what you wanted. Hope you like extra butter on your popcorn."

Mimi nodded in surprise and tentatively sipped the beverage,

"Yeah. Oh hey is this diet cola?"

Jason nodded,

"Yeah you want regular instead? Give it here and I'll exchange it."

Mimi held it away from his reaching hand,

"No! It's exactly what I wanted. Thanks Jason."

While Jason was distracted with Mimi, Jet looked over to see Leigh looking forlorn and jealous. He got her attention. She looked over and tried to glare at him. He gave her puppy dog eyes. Pointed to her then to himself then showed her his index finger and middle finger crossed. He kissed the tip of the crossed fingers and blew it to her. He mouthed the words 'trust me' and finished up with a wink and a smile. The entire message took less than five seconds and Leigh was back to smiling and beaming.

Jason sat looking at the movie screen fuming with jealousy. He elbowed Jet sharply in the arm. Jet winced even as he fought his grin,

"Problem Jase?"

Jason ground out from between his clenched jaws,

"Get your paws off of her!"

Jet pretended confusion,

"What's it to you? She doesn't seem to be minding."

Jason retorted,

"What about Leigh? You know how she feels about you and here you are flirting with Mimi right in front of her! If you make her cry I won't hesitate to take you on, best bud or not!"

Jet shrugged,

"See for yourself. Does Leigh look at all miserable to you?"

Jason looked beside him. Leigh looked up at him and smiled. Jason grit his teeth. He didn't answer Jet's question. He tapped his foot restlessly a few times and got up again,

"Gotta take a piss."

Jet grinned and watched Jason's progress back up the aisle and out the doors. He quickly removed his arm from Mimi's shoulders. He patted her knee,

"Just so you know. He is pissed but not at you. He'll be right back."

Mimi looked at him skeptically,

"How can you be so sure? Maybe it'd be better if I just left. You all seemed to be such a happy little group until I came along."

Jet was startled,

"No you can't leave now! We're making real progress here!"

Mimi raised her eyebrows,

"Huh? What do you mean?"

Jet smiled mysteriously,

"You'll see if you take your own advice and have a little patience."

Mimi sighed,

"Okay but if he's still all bad moody by the time volume two starts I think I'll just go sit somewhere else alone, even if I do hate watching movies by myself."

Jet lifted her chin and turned her to look at him,

"If you try to go sit alone I will just follow you and Leigh will follow me and Jason will follow her to keep an eye on us. Face it you're stuck with the lot of us. Hang in there Mimi and I promise you he won't stay as you put it all bad moody."

Mimi couldn't help but be charmed and laugh at the scenario he described,

"Okay, okay. I won't try to go sit by myself. I just wish he didn't hate me so much, you know? It was just a little scratch; just an accident. He acts like I did it on purpose. I think maybe he'll never forgive me."

Jet laughed,

"Forgive you? He hasn't stopped thanking his lucky stars for that little accident since it happened!"

Mimi looked completely baffled,

"Huh? Wha ..."

Jet interrupted her curiosity,

"Oh he's on his way back. Moment of truth. Patience Mimi. Don't forget."

Just as Jason got to their row, Jet hastily sat beside Leigh and challenged Jason with his eyes. Jason paused for only a second before squeezing past Jet to sit between he and Mimi. He leaned toward Jet,

"Keep your paws off my cuz."

Jet smirked and batted innocent eyes at him even as he entwined his fingers with Leigh's fingers well out of anybody's sight. He nodded in agreement.

Jason sat back in his seat and stole a quick sideways glance at Mimi then quickly averted his eyes to the screen. His heart was racing so fast he worried she might hear it. He tried to calm himself and just watch the movie. He was having a bit of difficulty focusing because even above the smell of the popcorn he could still detect her perfume ... if he breathed deeply enough. He took another deliberate slow deep breath and squirmed a little as he tried to subtly adjust the crotch of his pants. Mimi misunderstood the fidgeting and the tension emanating from him. She thought it was resentment and that he was uncomfortable because he didn't want her there. She sunk lower in her seat feeling miserable. She decided to try to ignore Jason and just watch the movie. Some of her favorite scenes were playing out and soon she was engrossed. She wasn't able to ignore Jason, however because with all his fidgeting sometimes his knee would brush up against hers and she found herself wishing fervently,

~Please do that again.~

The first time his knee touched hers Jason yanked it back even though it felt good. He let it happen a few more times and started noticing that she wasn't pulling away. He finally took a chance and leaned his knee against hers fully and left it there wondering if she'd pull away or not. Mimi sat stock still waiting for him to yank away from her again. She nearly gasped when she felt the pressure of his knee leaning against hers seemingly unnoticed by him since he seemed very involved in watching the movie. She forced herself to relax her knee against his even while she also managed to continue following the movie. Jason stopped fidgeting and their knees remained in contact. They were both very still pretending to be oblivious to that fact, each hoping the other wouldn't move away and each fixating on the movie as a reason to pretend they hadn't noticed the contact at all.

Jet leaned a bit closer to Leigh,

"Can you see them? How are they doing now?"

Leigh leaned back and looked behind Jet's head over toward Jason and Mimi. She looked back at Jet,

"It doesn't look promising. They look very uncomfortable."

No sooner were the words out of her mouth than Mimi and Jason both burst out laughing at the same part in the movie.

Jet raised his eyebrows suggestively,

"You were saying?"

Leigh grinned and snuggled her hand into his just a little tighter,

"Looks to me like they're doing just fine!"

Jet blew into Leigh's ear,

"Hey."

She shivered slightly and turned toward him,

"Yeah?"

He smiled into her eyes,

"Have I mentioned yet that you look beautiful tonight?"

She blushed with pleasure and he fell deeper in love with her. Her eyes brightened suddenly,

"JET! I just thought of something - her friends are gonna be done with their movie way before this one ends - do you think they'll wait for her?"

Jet grinned,

"Nope. Not when they get the message Mimi left for them."

Leigh frowned,

"Mimi hasn't left the theatre since we got here, so there's no way she left her friends any message. What are you even talking about?"

Jet chuckled,

"Well I haven't left it for them yet, silly but I will!"

Leigh gasped with delight,

"Oh! You're so devious!"

He winked,

"Takes one to know one, hmm? Know what else? It isn't right for Mimi to ride in the backseat of her own car. Jason won't want you and I in the backseat together for any length of time and Salem Inn is closest so I'd bet Jase will get rid of me first. Then it's up to you if you want to help them out or not."

Leigh smirked and winked,

"I don't think I can handle being in the perfume wagon for very long without getting a headache, and Jason's place is closer to Salem Inn than her place is, even if it isn't, just cuz I said so!"

Jet smiled appreciatively,

"That's my girl!"

Both their faces took on a wistful expression at his edict as they both wished it was really true. They tightened their clasped hands and Jet caressed the back of her hand briefly with his thumb as they both directed their full attention back to the movie.

Chapter 17

by Fidomom

Mimi had finished her large diet cola. Her nervousness about the whole knees touching dealio had made her suck it back pretty fast. This had given her nervous bladder plenty of ammunition to act up. She squirmed trying to hold it in but if she didn't do something soon she was likely to embarass herself. The first volume of Kill Bill was almost over. She had already seen it but had not seen the second part. She dreaded the idea of squeezing past three people but she didn't want to miss any of the second part so she took a deep breath and stood up,

"Excuse me please, Jase. I need to get out of here."

Jason panicked but tried to appear calm,

"What? Why? Oh you're out of soda. I'll go get more for you."

She held him back from getting up,

"NO! More soda is not what I need right now!"

Jason looked at her in consternation,

"Well tell me what you need then, I'll take care of it."

Mimi tried hard not to laugh even as she blushed,

"No Jason you really can't take care of this for me, trust me! Just let me out of here!"

Jason swallowed hard and decided to just say it,

"I don't want you to leave."

Mimi's mouth dropped open and her heart leapt with happiness,

"Leave? You don't? I mean I'm not leaving ... I just umm drank my soda a little too quickly ... kinda went right through me."

Jason's face grew hot with embarrassment. He felt like such an idiot,

"Oh. Why didn't you just say so?"

Mimi rolled her eyes,

"I didn't think you'd want TMI."

He moved his legs aside to let her by,

"Oh. You are coming back though?"

She gave him a smaller smile than she was feeling,

"Yeah. I'll be right back."

Jet let her by next and then he nudged Jason,

"Is she leaving with her friends now?"

Jason frowned,

"Shawn and Belle? No. They're probably still watching that other movie. Mimi's coming right back."

Jet nodded and smiled as he pointed out,

"This combo movie is gonna run long Jase."

Jason nodded absently,

"Yeah it is."

Jet didn't drop any more hints.

As Mimi squeezed past Leigh she was halted by a hand on her arm,

"Where are you going?"

Mimi laughed lightly,

"I swear nosiness must run in your family. I'll be right back."

Leigh sat back in relief and let go Mimi's arm,

"Oh, okay. Sorry."

Mimi smiled at her quickly and rushed off to the ladies room. Jet watched until she disappeared then counted to five before quickly getting up and leaving too.

Jason looked at Leigh questioningly and she whispered loudly,

"Washroom I think."

Jason seemed to accept that answer and returned his attention to the movie. Leigh smiled smugly to herself, ~Good. He bought it.~

Jet approached the pretty cashier at the concession counter,

"Hi there. I was wondering if you could help me out with something?"

She beamed a hopeful smile at him,

"If I can, sure. What is it?"

Jet leaned in like he was about to share a really juicy secret with her,

"Could you tell me what time Legally Blonde 4 lets out?"

She looked disappointed but nodded,

"Sure. It let's out in about 2 minutes actually."

He smiled and winked at her. Then glanced quickly at the name on her nametag,

"Thanks ... Noelle."

She smiled back,

"No problem."

Jet pulled out his wallet and extracted some money. He put it on the counter and smiled at Noelle somewhat sheepishly,

"Long as I'm here ... one large popcorn extra extra butter, please."

She quickly got him his popcorn, took his money and gave him his change. Jet was about to walk over to the other theatre doors to watch for Shawn and Belle when he heard his name. He turned toward the speaker,

"Oh hey Mimi. Glad I bumped into you out here. Could you do me a favor and bring this to Leigh? I gotta use the men's."

Mimi's unasked question having been answered she merely smiled, nodded and accepted the popcorn,

"Sure Jet. No problem. See you in there."

Just as she turned to go back into the theatre the other movie let out and people started milling out. Jet breathed a sigh of relief that Mimi didn't seem to place any importance on that and she re-entered Kill Bill combo without hesitation. He scanned the faces that were still ambling out of Legally Blonde 4 but didn't see the ones he sought anywhere. He felt a tap on his shoulder and turned. He smiled when he saw it was Mimi's little blonde friend,

"Yes?"

Belle smiled back,

"Hi. Did I just see you talking to my friend Mimi? Mimi Lockheart?"

Jet nodded but didn't say anything. Belle frowned in puzzlement,

"Well do you happen to know if Kill Bill is almost over?"

Jet shook his head feigning non-chalance,

"Nope. It's the combo so it won't be over for at least another hour and a half; maybe longer. Why?"

Belle's eyes widened in surprise,

"Oh my God! That long? Darn. Shawn is supposed to give her a ride home after the movie. Could you tell her we decided not to wait around but he'll come pick her up and take her home if she calls him on his cell after the movie? She knows the number."

Jet smiled slowly,

"I have a better idea. I'm here with Jason and his cousin Leigh. As I'm sure you know, Jason has Mimi's car tonight. He can drive her home afterwards since we're all seeing the same flick anyway."

Belle thought about it for a moment,

"Are you sure that'll be okay with Mimi and Jason? Last I saw they weren't exactly getting along."

Jet grinned,

"Well they are sitting together in the theatre and I know they were laughing earlier. Looked to me like they were getting along just fine."

Belle smiled slowly this time,

"Sitting together and laughing? Mimi and Jason? Wow. Hmmm. Okay then. Just tell Mimi to call me when she gets home would you please? Oh my name's Belle, by the way."

Jet grinned widely and nodded,

"I knew that and sure thing. Will do. You have yourself a good night, Belle."

Belle smiled back,

"Thanks you too."

Jet re-entered the Kill Bill combo theatre smiling in triumph. He was amazed at how easily everything was falling into place without much help from either Leigh or himself. He could hardly wait to fill Leigh in on what had just transpired.

Chapter 18

by Fidomom

Mimi handed off the popcorn to Leigh and then squeezed by her to return to her seat. Leigh gave her a funny look,

"What's this f ... oh lemme guess - Jet?"

Mimi nodded and squeezed past Jason. Jason's eyes bugged out of his skull as her tight-jeans clad ass passed only inches from his face and he had to think hard to remember to breathe. Mimi glanced at him sideways as she sat down in her seat and he met her look with a grateful smile. She smirked and rolled her eyes,

"See? Told you I'd come back!"

He grinned sheepishly and attempted a shrug as he nodded,

"Cool. You came back just in time - part two is about to start."

Just then Jet returned to his seat. He reached around Jason's back and tapped Mimi on the shoulder. Mimi looked his way questioningly and Jet leaned over half in front of Jason,

"Hey Mimi, just saw your little blonde friend in the lobby. She and her date are splitting. She said when this movie's over you can call Shawn to come get you."

Jason smacked him in the head,

"You dufus! Why didn't you just tell them since I've got Mimi's wheels I'd drive her home?"

Jet grinned widely,

"I did!"

Jason colored slightly,

"Oh. Well good then. Now get outta my face I'm trying to watch a movie here."

Mimi had a bit of trouble closing her mouth but she finally managed it. She looked at Jason's profile for several seconds trying to figure out why he was being so nice. He felt her gaze and looked at her,

"What?!"

She shook her head with a small smile,

"Nothing Jase ... just thanks. I forgot their movie let out first and I wouldn't want t..."

He interrupted her,

"No prob Mimi - part two's starting."

Mimi snapped her mouth shut and focussed her eyes on the screen in front of them. She was a little annoyed and a lot baffled as to how he could be so nice one minute and in the very next so rude as to cut her off in mid-sentence.

Leigh saw Jason smack Jet in the head and wondered what was going on. A moment later Jet settled back into his seat with a huge grin on his face. He leaned in to whisper to Leigh,

"It's a go sweetheart! I didn't even have to bully him into it - he offered before I could tell him it was a done deal!"

Leigh grinned,

"He's got it bad huh?"

Jet laughed quietly,

"Oh yeah. It's bad alright!"

Leigh frowned suddenly,

"So why'd he hit you?"

Jet looked puzzled,

"Hit me? He didn ... oh that? He thought I'd deprived him of the chance to drive her home!"

Leigh grinned,

"You mean as usual Mr. Impatient interrupted you before you could bully him into it ?"

Jet grinned and winked,

"You are one smart cookie!"

Leigh beamed,

"As a matter of fact yes I am AND I also happen to know my cousin very well! It wasn't hard to figure out once you told me that one lil detail."

Jet nudged her then and redirected her eyes to the screen. They each settled back and their hands laced between the seats right about the time Jason's knee became mysteriously glued to Mimi's.

To the casual observer the four of them appeared to be quite engrossed in the movie. There was no outward sign that Leigh was already planning a tantrum to be dropped off first, or that Jet knew that Leigh would demand to be dropped off first and was planning to insist that Leigh shouldn't be left home alone so late at night knowing Jason would have no choice but to leave he and Leigh alone together, or that Jason was trying to figure out a way to drop Mimi off last without anyone catching on that he just wanted to be alone with her or that Mimi was disappointedly certain that despite his earlier claim to want her around, that Jason would probably drop her off first in his hurry to get away from her and her 'stinky' perfume. Leigh's remembered slip up still stung. She bit her lip and savored the feel of his knee against hers. The racing hearts of all four hadn't much to do with the scenes playing out on the screen in front of them at all.

Not far away a couple of beat cops happened upon four youths messing with a little blue Nissan Sentra. One of the cops called out,

"Hey!"

Four startled faces whipped toward the voice and the four took off in different directions. The cops shrugged realising it was pointless to give chase and briefly inspected the vehicle. Seeing no discernible damage they concluded the youths had been chased off before they could do any. They decided it was a good time for a coffee break and walked away - completely oblivious to the fact that the rear right tire was slowly leaking air from a single nail puncture.

Chapter 19

by Fidomom

Jet and Leigh tightened their clasped hands in the dark and smiled triumphantly. Jason breathed a sigh of relief as he turned the key in the ignition. He was glad Jet beat him to the punch pointing out that Mimi should get to ride shotgun in her own car. Saved him, in his mind, from making an ass of himself in front of Mimi. He was only mildly concerned at this point about Jet and Leigh being alone together in the back seat. He justified to himself, that it was only for a few minutes anyway since Leigh had made such a fuss about getting dropped off first. Mimi was clearly annoyed by Leigh's tantrum and he couldn't blame her. At the same time though it fit in with what Jason wanted so he also felt gratitude that Leigh was being every bit the spoiled little rich girl her parents had so carefully molded. Jason was only too happy to indulge her, as it put him that much closer to some alone time with Mimi. ~Just gotta drop Leigh off first, then Jet and then ... ~

His thoughts were interrupted by the conversation going on around him. He added comments of his own to the discussion about the movie they'd just seen. The four of them chatted and laughed amicably as they repeated best lines and told what their favorite parts of the movie had been.

Jason pulled into the driveway at his place to let Leigh out. He saw Jet make a move to exit the car as well,

"Oh no you fucking don't, Jet! Nice try bud!"

Jet flashed one of his most innocently charming grins at his best friend,

"Jase, buddy I really don't think it'd be right to leave Leigh all by herself in this big house. She IS only 15 you know?"

Jason glared at him,

"Yeah. I do know. Point is do you?"

Jet imitated his best Boy Scout salute,

"Scout's honor I'll be on best behavior - no funny business; just looking out for her until you get back. I'll cab it back to the hotel later. Cool?"

Jason chewed the inside of his bottom lip and grimaced as he struggled with the decision. He looked beside him at Mimi who happened at that moment to lick her lips. Jason quit breathing for a nanosecond then let out a loud rush of breath,

"You win Jet. Just remember three things; our little talk earlier, how old she is and the fact that I'll give you up to her parents if you go back on your word! Cappicce?"

Jet feigned his most sober look,

"Cappicce. No worries she'll be in good hands."

Jet chuckled triumphantly and winked at Jason when he looked concerned over his choice of words. Jason visibly relaxed when he realised Jet was just baiting him again as usual. He flipped him the bird and muttered with a wry grin,

"Get the fuck out already!"

Jet laughed out loud and got out of the car,

"It was good to finally meet you Mimi. Maybe we can all do this again sometime."

Mimi's breath caught at the word 'finally' and she stole a quick glance at Jason. As usual he was giving nothing away. She let out the held breath slowly and quietly. Her shoulders sagged as she realised she still had no idea where she stood with Jason, regardless of Jet's earlier assurances that Jason didn't hate her anymore.

She nodded her agreement at Jet and smiled slightly,

"Yeah, maybe."

Jet gave her a sympathetic yet encouraging look, then quickly slammed the door and bounded across the yard to catch up with Leigh at the front door.

Jason briefly closed his eyes in embarassment and silently cursed Jet for his wording, fervently hoping Mimi hadn't caught it. He burned rubber as he backed the car out of the driveway. Mimi had been pleased at being alone with Jason but his rush to get to her place gave her pause. She inwardly chided herself for getting her hopes up over Jet's seemingly innocent parting comment. She figured Jason was being so untalkative and was in such a rush because he wanted to get away from her and her stinky perfume as soon as he possibly could. Jason was indeed in a hurry to get Mimi home; mainly because he was hoping to invite himself in for a few minutes. Plus, the scent of her perfume in the dark, in the close confines of the cosy little car with her just an arm's length away, had his lustful imagination in overdrive. Just being near her was driving him wild. He was struggling to keep himself in check. He was also quite conscious of the fact that his underaged female cousin was home alone with his adult male best friend. He really didn't want to leave those two alone for too long; he knew that if anything were to happen between Jet and Leigh and her parents were to find out, that they would come after both he and Jet. That wouldn't be pleasant at all for either of them, to say the least.

Jason and Mimi were both acutely aware of the silence in the car with Jet and Leigh gone, but neither of them could think of anything intelligent to say. Jason glanced briefly at Mimi's profile, drew in a masochistic deep breath, fidgeted in his seat and gunned the gas a little harder. Mimi continued to stare out the window dejectedly, wondering just how much longer she could handle being around him knowing she was the only one crushing.

Chapter 20
by Fidomom

Just when she thought he was going to be silent the whole way to her place he cleared his throat,
"Can I ask you something?"

She braced herself,
"Okay, what?"

She watched as he chewed the inside of his cheek,
"What exactly did Leigh say to you that made you so mad before; you know when you yelled at me?"

Mimi's face went hot and she was glad the interior was dark,
"She just made it sound like you and her went at it in the backseat of my car. But she did explain herself; she told me you were cousins. She did apologize."

He glanced over at her as they waited at a traffic light,
"That doesn't answer the question. Why were you so mad?"

Mimi's heart stilled in dread as she thought "Oh God he knows I have a crush on him!" then began to race as she tried to talk her way out of it,
"Well, Jase, it's my car - would you like me to have sex in the backseat of your car? Didn't think so! It was just the principle of the thing."

Jason nearly choked on his own breath at her question "If she only knew! Yes, actually I would, Meems, as long as it was with me." he smiled wryly,
"Point taken. Speaking of principles I umm need a favor."

Mimi frowned suspiciously,
"What kind of favor?"

He shrugged,
"It's no big or anything it's just you know how you sometimes put your perfume on in here while I'm in here? Well I mean I know it's your car but I'd rather you don't. People keep telling me I smell like girl's perfume all the time."

Mimi sucked in a breath "So Leigh was telling the truth about that; he thinks my perfume stinks!" as she tried to hold her tears in check,
"I see. Sure Jason. I'll try to remember not to do that anymore."

She saw his shoulders sag in relief,
"Thanks, Mimi."

Two minutes later he pulled into her driveway. Mimi started to exit the car as quickly as possible but at the last moment she remembered her manners,
"Thank-you, Jason, for the unscheduled chauffeur home and for letting me sit with you and your friends during the movie - I hate watching movies alone and I actually kind of had fun tonight. Oh and also for the movie snacks; you really didn't have to do that."

Jason shrugged,
"No problem. Me too."

She frowned,
"Me too what?"

He shrugged,
"It was kinda fun for me too. At least with you there, I was spared being the third wheel to Jet and Leigh."

Mimi was starting to feel frustrated with him "First my perfume stinks and now he says he had fun!" and knew she had to get inside quickly before she started grilling him. He halted her with a hand on her arm and she looked at him uncertainly,
"Jase?"

He took a deep breath and exaggerated a reason to go inside with her,
"I need to use the can real bad."

Mimi gasped at his bluntness,
"Oh. Umm okay. You should have gone before we left the theater, Jason, but since you didn't you might as well come in and go here but me first; my house and ladies first and all that."

Jason's jaw dropped as she hastily exited and bound her way up the front steps and let herself in quickly. He spoke aloud to the suddenly empty interior of the car,
"How does she always manage to find something to rag on me about? You should have gone before we left - even my mother hasn't said that to me since I was 9! So now what Masters? You're still gonna go in there! Unfuckingbelieveable. You fuckin' pussy! Jet's right; Mimi fucking Lockhart has you so whipped! This is nuts."

He got out of the car, slammed the door a bit harder than necessary and took her steps two at a time. He didn't need to knock since she'd left the door slightly ajar for him so he let himself in and closed it behind him.

Once inside, he paced the open concept kitchen, dining, living room area waiting for her to return from the bathroom. His eyes zeroed in on a group picture from highschool when they'd all gone to Puerto Rico on a final class trip. He noted Kevin's arm around Mimi's shoulders and felt the familiar knot of jealousy flare up. He mentally shook it off reminding himself they were done now. Still he wondered why she'd have the picture out at all if that was true.

He heard her footsteps in the hall and turned expectantly for directions to the bathroom. His eyes nearly bugged out of his head at the sight of her clad now in a very short red silky robe. She seemed oblivious to the effect she was having on him as she pointedly looked at the clock,
"Bathroom's free now, Jase. Sorry it took so long but as you know we have an early day tomorrow so I decided to get ready for bed right away. It's the second door on the right."

Jason nodded not trusting himself to speak and attempted to walk past her but at the last moment she blocked his path,
"I may or may not have boobie trapped my medicine cabinet - snoop at your own risk."

His initial slack jawed shock turned into a grin of respect,
"Thanks for the warning! I should try that to keep Leigh out of mine!"

Mimi smiled suddenly proud of herself,
"Let me know if you need any ideas - a girl growing up with snoopy brothers finds ways to make them think twice."

He grinned in appreciation,
"I'll definitely keep that in mind."

Mimi's nervous energy was put to absent minded use as soon as Jason was out of sight and before she knew it she had made a sandwich and poured a small glass of milk. She'd barely set them on the counter when Jason returned and he looked puzzled maybe even annoyed. She was about to ask what was wrong when he held out the nearly full bottle of Jovan Vanilla Musk and blurted out,
"Why the hell was this in your wastebasket? Looks like it's a new bottle so why would you toss it?"

Mimi felt her face get hot,
"You had no business going through my trash!"

He shrugged,
"It was kinda hard to miss laying right on top. What gives? Why'd you toss it?"

She crossed her arms trying not to let the hurt come through in her voice,
"What's it to you, Jason? I'd think you'd be relieved I won't be stinking up my car with it anymore."

He frowned,
"Stinking up your car? What are you talking about? Wait a second! You mean because I asked you not to put it on in the car while I'm sitting right there?"

She nodded,
"Yep, pretty much."

Jason looked at the bottle in his hand and then at her in utter confusion,
"How did you get from what I said to throwing all of it out? I don't get it. You can't just stop wearing it cold turkey."

Mimi frowned then,
"Why not?"

He shrugged in frustration,
"I don't know because this is what you wear; what since like 8th grade - that's just how it is!"

Mimi made a groan of pure frustration,
"Arrgh! You're impossible! Then why did you complain about it?"

His jaw dropped,
"No I didn't! Just because I don't want to smell like a girl doesn't mean I want you to stop smelling like you're supposed to!"

Mimi froze in place as their green eyes locked. Jet's words to her at the theater earlier flitted through her mind and she smiled slowly in relief. Jason looked utterly bewildered by her smile and was rooted to the spot as she approached him,
"Jase. I misunderstood that's all. Give it here."

He held it away,
"You throwing it back in the trash?"

She shook her head,
"No. I promise. I will just be more careful not to make you smell like a girl anymore. Okay?"

He finally handed it to her,
"Look I'm sorry if what I said made you feel bad; I really didn't mean to. You know if you ever again think I'm telling you to change not only don't listen to me - tell me to go pound sand. There's nothing wrong with you the way you are. It's late I gotta get going; we have an early day tomorrow and I don't want to sleep in and break our deal."

He reached for the doorknob but she halted him with a hand on his bicep and pointed to the sandwich on the counter,
"Not so fast. I already brushed my teeth. That was for you."

He raised his eyebrows at her,
"You made me a sandwich? What for?"

She laughed then,
"Honestly I don't know. I was bored waiting for you and next thing I know there's a sandwich and a glass of milk on my counter. Anyway you haven't eaten since the beginning of Volume 2; just humor me. Eat before you take off."

He was about to argue but his stomach growled,
"What kind is it?"

She grinned,
"PB and honey."

He grinned back then,
"Consider my rubber arm twisted. Thanks, Meems."

Mimi's jaw dropped,
"Oh my God! You're not pissed at me anymore! You just called me Meems!

He shrugged and winked as he practically inhaled the sandwich and downed the milk in three gulps,
"It's your name isn't it?"

Mimi was stunned to see him immediately clean up after himself before heading for the door again. He paused and turned back to look at her,
"Thanks for the snack and you're right I'm not pissed at you anymore - I still prefer my T-bird over your car and I'll definitely be glad to have it back - but this deal we've got is working out alright for me too, after all. 'Night, Meems. See you in the morning."

As soon as the door closed Mimi had to stifle a squeal of excitement as she breathed,
"Oh my God I can't believe he knows how long I've been wearing it! He likes the way I smell! Okay chill girl deep breaths! It's not a freaking marriage proposal it's just perfume trivia! But it's MY trivia! Oh my God! What if his buddy, Jet was right? What if ... no I can't even go there right now. I can't believe he ... he freaking rescued my perfume!"

Just then Mimi nearly jumped out of her skin as someone knocked on her door. She was still standing in front of it, with her back to it leaning against it. She jumped away, spun and peeked out the one-way glass. Her eyes widened in concerned surprise and she quickly unlocked and opened the door,
"Jason? What's going on? Did you forget something?"

He shook his head,
"No. There's a slightly major problem with the car."

Chapter 21
by Fidomom

Mimi stepped aside to let Jason in and gave him a questioning look,
"A problem with my car? I don't think I like the sound of that."

He frowned then,
"You answered the door awfully fast, why weren't you in bed yet?"

Mimi froze and then made something up,
"Thirsty. Water. Uhh Jase? The car? What's wrong with it?"

He sighed and shrugged his shoulders,
"Flat tire. Better than that- guess what? The spare? Also flat. It's too late now to get it fixed tonight. I already called a cab to go home but I figured you'd rather know about the car tonight even though it's late."

She pursed her lips and shook her head,
"Good call. Not to worry because I have a guy who will deal with both tires tonight. I'll call him right now. Cancel your cab, Jason."

He frowned,
"It's great you can get it dealt with tonight but why should I cancel my cab? I'm tired. Not to mention Jet is alone at my place with Leigh. Her parents would have a Level 4 temper tantrum just over that, never mind them being alone together overnight. Level 4 nothing if they ever find out I left her overnight with him, it would result in my early demise, possibly with their bare hands. Seriously, I just want to go home and sleep. I can cab back here in time to drive you to the gym and to church; Scout's honor."

Mimi fixed a skeptical don't argue look on him,
"You're no Boy Scout, Masters. Just cancel the cab, already. I'm not gonna have you throwing money at cabs and wasting time waiting on them that you could be spending sleeping; sleep deprivation causes traffic accidents too, you know! As for Jet and Leigh, what her parents don't know won't hurt them or you. None of us is gonna squeal, so I think you'll be safe from their wrath. Anyway, at least she isn't all by herself and your friend Jet is trustworthy; he said he'd behave and I believe him. He's your friend, though, so what do I know?"

Jason thought about it for a few more seconds and caved,
"Fine you win. I'm too tired to argue about it. Jet likes to fuck with me but I know when push comes to shove, he'd never disrespect either me or Leigh. I'll call him first to let him know what's going on."

Mimi shook her head,
"I think you should make the shorter call first; cancel the cab then call Jet. Hurry up on that too, Jase, or the cabbie will expect payment if they show up for nothing."

Jason suddenly blurted out,
"Hang on a sec! I can't sleep here! You only have one bedroom!"

She pointed at her couch,
"It pulls out. Now, would you please cancel the cab!"

Visibly relieved by her answer and too tired to argue the issue any further, Jason redialed the cab company and canceled the cab request. Then he called Jet and after Jet's usual fucking around he finally swore to Jason, on their friendship that he'd be a perfect gentleman with Leigh.

Mimi had finished her call with her middle of the night tire guy and left the room. Jason had just pulled the hide a bed out of the couch when she returned with fresh bedding, two pillows and even men's pajamas. Jason felt a flicker of jealousy again wondering who the pajamas belonged to, as he and Mimi wordlessly made up the bed together.

Once the bed was made Mimi yawned and stretched sending Jason's pulse to full gallop. She handed him the pajamas,
"Here Jase. You'll sleep better if you're comfortable. They're my brother Trick's and I think you two are close to same size. He leaves extra stuff here so he can crash comfortably when he's in town."

Jason accepted them and turned away to hide his grin of relief,
"Thanks Meems. Kinda glad you insisted I stay - I'm wiped and I'd probably still be waiting on that cab. Is your car guy gonna need to talk to one of us tonight?"

She shook her head,
"Nope he has a spare key to my car and my credit card info and all I had to do was to promise to have dinner with him again. Middle of the night car rescue is so not free but it is very convenient. I'm wiped too, Jase. Goodnight again."

Mimi went to bed immediately leaving him standing there struggling to quell the green eyed monster in his guts at the notion of her having dinner with some nameless faceless guy. He was still upset about it when he finally drifted off to sleep.

Two hours later, Mimi rolled over again in total frustration. She was beyond tired but could not fall asleep. She looked at the clock again,
"Great 3:17 in the morning. If I could just fall asleep now I'd get almost four hours sleep. This is nuts. I give up!"

She swung her legs over the edge of her bed and got up. She carefully cracked open her bedroom door and peered down the empty, dark hallway. She hesitated leaving her bedroom but her curiosity got the best of her. Feeling along the wall with her hands she quietly made her way to the living room. Before long her eyes adjusted and she could make out Jason's body on the hide a bed obviously in deep sleep. She huffed jealously,
"Must be nice!"

She settled into her ez-chair and continued watching her temporary chauffeur sleep. He rolled over, facing her, flinging an arm over a pillow pressed lengthwise to his body and mumbled,
"Meems please don't do it. Stay with me."

Mimi's jaw dropped in shocked delight. Then she got suspicious wondering if he was actually awake and just punking her. She went over and put a hand on his shoulder,
"Jase? You awake?"

She saw him smile and thought it was a yes but was proved mistaken when the pillow he'd been holding onto, fell to the floor and he reached for her to pull her into bed with him,
"Get back here, sexy, we're so not done yet."

She struggled a bit at first but didn't want to wake him up. If he woke up she'd have to explain why she wasn't in her bedroom sleeping. She sure didn't want to tell him she'd been watching him sleep. Jason pulled her closer, snuggling against her as he nuzzled his face into her neck,
"You smell so fucking good, Meems. You're so hot ... driving me crazy."

Mimi knew it was unfair of her to basically be eavesdropping on his dream thoughts, but she couldn't help enjoying the content. She tentatively caressed his cheek and gasped when he turned his face into her palm and kissed it. He rolled onto his back then, pulling her with him so she was right against his side. Sighing in defeat and realizing that for the moment he had her trapped, Mimi squirmed further down in an effort to get more comfortable. She soon succeeded in being able to rest her head on his shoulder and she finally relaxed against him. She put her flat palm over his heart and savored the feel of it beating. She knew she'd have to get up soon or risk him finding out she'd pretty much stalked him in his sleep, but she just wanted to enjoy snuggling with him for a few more minutes. She assured herself she just had to wait for him to loosen his embrace so she could get out of the bed, leaving him none the wiser. That was her last thought, as the sleep that she'd wanted so badly, earlier, finally claimed her.

Jason frowned as he heard his wrist watch alarm because his other hand wasn't free to turn it off. He opened an eye to find out why his hand was stuck and he cursed softly,
"What the fuck? Meems? Shit. What the hell is all over your ne ...? Oh damn you're killing me here. Don't do that ... oh fuck that feels good ... nope I'm definitely not Boy Scout material. Yeah baby that's what I'm talkin' 'bout. You just keep right on sleeping. Oh fuck yeah. Well, at least now she can't get mad at just me."

Jason lifted his chin higher to give Mimi's mouth better access to his neck. He wickedly reveled in the sensation as she passionately pressed her curvy body against him while sucking, licking and nibbling the skin on his neck just to the side of his Adam's apple. Her lips began making an obvious bee-line for his mouth and he sighed with the disappointment of knowing he was not going to let her kiss him on the mouth while she was still sleeping. He squeezed his eyes shut in dread as he yelled,
"MIMI!"

That worked. She jumped and then jumped again far away from him, nearly falling off the bed,
"Oh my God Jason! What happened? We didn't ... did we? Oh no. Jason. Your neck. Oh God what have I done?"

Jason saw an opportunity to maybe appear a little less wicked,
"What about my neck?"

He got out of bed and trudged to the bathroom to look. He admired it briefly, grinning like an idiot and then he roared in pseudo annoyance,
"A hickey? You freaking gave me a hickey! What the hell?"

He came back into the living room and tried to stare her down as she looked forlorn and contrite wringing her hands,
"I know, I know. Oh God Jason I'm so sorry! I didn't know what I was doing. I must have been dreaming."

Jason was suddenly worried who she was dreaming about and his voice had more edge than he intended as he grilled her,
"What were you even doing in the bed with me? When I fell asleep you were already gone to your own bed. What gives?"

Mimi gulped and blushed hard,
"I can explain! I did go to bed but I had a bad case of insomnia so I gave up trying to sleep and came out here to see if you were settled in okay. You were off in lala land. I couldn't go back to bed and I couldn't turn on any lights or watch tv without risking disturbing you so I just sat here in the dark and then you said something to me. I thought maybe you were awake so I went closer and tried talking to you and that's when you grabbed me and pulled me into bed with you. I considered putting up a fuss to wake you up, to make you let go of me, really I did! Then I figured one of us should be well rested today and it was better if it was you, since you're my chauffeur, right? So I tried to get comfortable and just wait you out. I really figured eventually you'd loosen your grip and I could just go back to my own bed and you wouldn't even know what happened. I guess I fell asleep waiting for that to happen. I have no reasonable explanation, though, for the hickey on your neck. I don't remember doing that but obviously I must have since we're the only ones here and you sure didn't do that to yourself. I'm really sorry Jason. Please don't stay mad at me all day?"

Jason narrowed his eyes,
"So who were you dreaming you were making out with?"

Her eyes widened like a deer caught in headlights,
"I uhh I don't remember having that kind of dream at all, but obviously I must have but I just, I don't know, Jason."

He smiled then,
"I'm not mad. Please remember that when you check out your own neck."

Her jaw dropped,
"My neck? Why? What are you saying?"

Now it was her turn to rush off to the bathroom. She took one look and screamed,
"Oh my God! Jason Dean Masters what have you done to me? I can't go to church like this!"

She returned to the living room, her emerald eyes narrowed into fierce fiery slits, her hands on her hips,
"You unimaginable jerk! You let me fall all over myself apologizing for leaving a hickey - as in one hickey - on your neck and you knew damn well there were seven on mine! Are you some kind of weird vampire or something? Seven? Make-up is not going to cover these, Jason, and it's too warm for a turtleneck sweater! How am I supposed to go to church today looking like this ... oh my God or the gym either for that matter! How long do these things last when they are this umm colorful?"

He shrugged,
"Four maybe five days? Well, some of them might be gone in three but for sure the one on the left, above your collar bone - the real dark one - yeah, that's for sure a five dayer."

Her mouth opened in disbelief,
"Five days? You say that like it's no big deal! And you aren't even sorry are you?"

He shrugged again,
"Why should I be? I don't remember giving you those either! You must be a deep sleeper to sleep through seven hickeys Miss "I-had-insomnia". I'm just sayin'."

Her mouth opened in shocked offense,
"I don't think I like what you're implying! I did not purposely get in that bed with you! You were the one saying my name in your sleep! "Stay with me Meems" ... "we're not done yet" ... "you're driving me crazy" well right back at you Masters! Arrrrgh! You're the one driving me around the proverbial bend! How am I supposed to get through five days with my busy schedule with these things on my neck? Strangers staring is one thing but what the hell am I supposed to tell my friends and my family and especially my pastor!? Huh? I mean one or two could be chalked up to getting carried away but seven? My life as I know it is over. I'll never live this down. This is as bad as a scarlet letter! Wait, no it's worse than that; seven times worse! I hate you for this."

He didn't look away in time to hide the sting of her words. Mimi regretted them even before his look,
"I didn't mean that last part, Jason!"

He held up his hand,
"Save it. You're right. I'm a jerk. So what's the plan then? You really staying home until those are gone?"

She narrowed her eyes suspiciously,
"Oh my God, you wouldn't! Did you? Did you do this on purpose so you could take a break from driving me everywhere?"

He curled his lip in insulted denial,
"No! Fuck Mimi! Yeah, I'm a jerk, but I didn't do that on purpose! I know better than anyone how busy you are! I'd never mess with your life like that on purpose! Like I told you before I don't even remember doing it or even dreaming it either!"

Mimi studied his face for a few seconds and bit her lip,
"Okay Jason. I'm sorry. I believe you. That was uncalled for. I guess I overreacted cuz I'm seriously freaked out here. I really don't hate you, either. I just ... I don't know what to do now. What am I supposed to tell people?"

He shrugged,
"Tell them we got carried away making out. That's gonna be my story when Jet starts in on me about the little present you left on my neck."

Mimi frowned suspiciously,
"Present? That makes it sound like a good thing and did you just say you're going to admit to people that I did that to you?"

He shrugged,
"It doesn't bug me as much as it obviously bugs you I guess. Anyway, why wouldn't I admit it was you?"

She shrugged uncertainly,
"Just figured you might be embarrassed for anyone to know you spent that sort of time with me - good old loser Mimi."

He was clearly taken aback,
"Embarrassed? That doesn't even make sense. There's nothing wrong with you. I told you that before. I really wish you'd quit bringing up the loser thing, too, because we've already established I'm a jerk; always have been, probably always will be. I say idiotic things all the time - things I said in highschool shouldn't even be on your radar. You weren't a loser then and you're definitely not one now. Can you please stop throwing it in my face?"

Mimi suddenly smiled at him and his heart thundered in his ears,
"Apology accepted. Thank-you, Jason."

He widened his eyes in bewilderment,
"Apology? But I didn't ..."

She cut him off,
"Oh I know you didn't say the actual words but that was most definitely an apology; like I said, accepted and I forgive you."

He looked away so she wouldn't see he was touched by what she said. He composed himself, then looked up at her thoughtfully,
"I've seen some chicks wear neck scarves. Leigh does sometimes, so does my step-mom. Maybe that could hide most of them?"

Mimi brightened for a moment then sagged in defeat,
"I don't have any."

Jason jumped up and took her by the shoulders pointing her toward her bedroom,
"Just give me your church clothes and go get ready for the gym! I'll get Leigh to help and you won't have to hide out after all. Hurry up, Meems! We overslept and then we spent too much time fighting, besides."

Mimi rushed to her room, quickly scanned her closet contents and selected a dress for church. She hastily passed it off to Jason, who had, by then, changed back into his own pants but was still shirtless. She stared slack jawed, as he quickly pulled his T-shirt on, until he snapped her out of it,
"Seriously, Meems, you need to go get ready. I'll be back as soon as I can to pick you up. Looks like you won't get any whirlpool time today, though."

He rushed for the door and Mimi called out to him,
"Jason?"

He turned back expectantly,
"Yeah?"

She smiled contritely,
"Sorry for fighting and thanks."

He nodded and a small smile lit his eyes before he hurried off to try to help salvage both her reputation and her pride.

Chapter 23
by Fidomom

On Thursday morning, Mimi looked in the mirror to inspect her neck. After just a few seconds, she shrugged at her reflection and decided not to wear a neck scarf after all. Only two of the hickeys that Jason had given her, were still visible and she didn't mind if anyone saw those ones. She left the bathroom still holding her favorite of the eight scarves that Leigh had loaned her and grabbed the rest from her bedroom. She folded each carefully and put them inside her purse. Then she finished getting ready for the day ahead.

When she heard her car pull into the driveway she smiled and glanced at the kitchen clock,
"Awww, he's early again. Poor guilt-ridden guy."

She grabbed her stuff and went out to the car. Jason reached across the seat and opened the door wide for her before she'd even made it halfway down her steps. She looked down to hide her pleased grin as she got in.

Jason noticed immediately that she was still sporting two hickeys and wasn't wearing a neck scarf. He waited until she was done up and then spoke up,
"Hey, Meems? Aren't you forgetting something?"

Mimi feigned ignorance,
"No? Pretty sure I have everything."

He pulled a face and gestured to her neck then made motions on his own, to mime a neck scarf. Mimi continued her ruse as she pulled all the scarves out of her purse and handed them to him,
"Oh! Right! Thanks, Jase! Here, could you please give these back to Leigh, when you see her later, and tell her I said, thanks again?"

Jason didn't accept them right away,
"You still have a couple marks left, you sure you don't want to keep wearing these until they are all gone?"

She held the scarves out to him again,
"Yep. I'm sure."

He raised his brows and took them from her and then frowned. He handed one of them back to her; her favorite one,
"This one isn't Leigh's."

Mimi frowned then,
"Well, of course it is, it has to be because I don't own any remember?"

Jason's face reddened,
"You do now. That one is yours; I should know because I bought it for you."

Mimi's jaw dropped as she slowly accepted it back from him,
"You did? Why is this the first I'm hearing about it?"

He shrugged,
"Because when I handed it to you on Sunday you were still kind of freaked out and you took it and ran to go put that one on instead of the one you were already wearing. You told me to say thanks to Leigh so I just kept my mouth shut about it."

Mimi's heart melted,
"Jase! I wish you would have said something before now! You do know it's my favorite one, right? It goes with just about everything in my entire wardrobe. I'm really impressed, seriously, Jason, I know this is late but thank-you. I'm curious though; why'd you buy this for me when you knew Leigh had loaned me enough to get me through a week?"

He shrugged and mumbled,
"For next time."

Mimi felt her cheeks heat up with hope,
"Next time? What do you mean?"

He shrugged,
"I mean it's just in case you ever need to wear one again."

Disappointed with his generalized answer Mimi leaned back into her seat,
"Oh. Well, thanks again, Jason. Guess we better get going."

He nodded and backed out of the driveway.

As soon as he'd parked in the gym parking lot and before she could exit the car, Jason found himself doing the very thing he told himself he wouldn't do until the end of the day; he showed his hand,
"Meems? Can I have the car on Saturday night again?"

Jolted out of her thoughts of him and the fact he'd bought her a scarf she absent-mindedly turned back with one foot on the tarmac and one still in the car,
"Saturday night? Oh. I guess so, I mean a deal's a deal. Guess I'll just spend Saturday at home since Belle and Shawn are out of town this weekend."

Jason nodded,
"I knew they were going to be away. That's why I want the car. Hard to go on a date without wheels and we both agreed no driving for you."

Mimi's heart plummeted miserably,
"So you knew I'd be alone on Saturday and you picked this weekend to go on a date? Thanks a lot, Jason!"

Jason suspected he'd said something wrong but couldn't figure out what made her smile disappear so fast,
"Hey look if you don't want to go out with me on Saturday night, if you rather stay home alone, just say it, I just thought. Never mind, forget I even brought it up."

Mimi's head whipped around to look at him as her heart thundered in her ears,
"I'm sorry, what did you just say? Did you just say you want me to go out on a date with you on Saturday night?"

Jason turned an uncomfortable shade of red as it felt like his worst imaginings coming to pass; not only did she turn him down, now she was rubbing salt in the wound,
"You don't have to rub it in my face, Mimi - I asked, you said no, can we just drop it now?"

Mimi grabbed his forearm,
"Hold it right there Masters! We need to put this conversation in reverse like right now! The only question I heard was you wanting this car on Saturday night so you could go on a date. You never got around to actually asking me to be your date."

His confused expression made her want to both slap him and kiss him,
"Yes, I did too and you got mad and said you were staying home alone."

She grabbed his face in both her hands and forced him to look at her,
"God you're impossible! I want a do over. Ask me again."

He tried to pull away from her but she held on,
"Why should I? So you can get your kicks by shooting me down again? No thanks, I'll pass. Don't you have a workout to get to?"

She narrowed her eyes into exasperated slits,
"Fine if you won't ask me again then I'll just pretend you did anyway and tell you my actual answer. Yes, Jason, I would really like to go on a date with you on Saturday night. What time do you want me to be ready?"

He frowned at her then,
"Is this a joke? You trying to punk me now? Or is this pity because if it is don't do me any favors! I don't want or need a pity date."

Mimi shook her head at him,
"You are so damn thick headed and stubborn! What will it take to make you get that I'm crazy about you and have been jonesing for a date with you since like 8th grade? Apparently sleeping with you and sporting seven hickeys from you didn't convince you, so just tell me, what exactly will it take, Masters?"

Watching the smile of enlightenment spread across his features was the most beautiful thing Mimi had ever witnessed. His face reddened all over again,
"Since 8th grade? For real, Meems?"

She nodded,
"Yeah. Pathetic right? Loser Meems jonesing for the hottest guy in school - as if you even knew I existed."

He grinned even wider,
"Hottest guy? Oh yeah? But hey what did I tell you about the loser stuff? You were never a loser, Meems, it was just my lame ass attempt to try to flirt with you when I couldn't find anything about you I could pick on the way I could with Penny, Susan and Chloe. I didn't even realize you might believe I really thought that. I'm a jerk, I've always been a jerk. Stuff I say, especially to girls, has always come out wrong and pissed them off so I started making like I did it on purpose. I never meant to hurt your feelings, Meems, not then and not now. You think I didn't know you existed? Are you fucking kidding me? You were just the one girl I knew was way too good for the likes of me; my guaranteed no girl - the kind of no that would have ruined my whole reputation."

Mimi's slow smile of enlightenment was the most beautiful thing Jason had ever witnessed and his breath caught just before she covered his mouth with her own.

Chapter 24
by Fidomom

Jason barely had time to kiss her back before she ended it. She kept her hands on his face and smiled at him. It made him nervous,
"What? What was that for?

She laughed then,
"That was thank-you for the scarf, Jason."

He blushed again, "Oh. Yeah, okay. No problem. Glad you like it so much."

Still grinning, she finally let her hands drop from his face and turned back toward the open car door,
"Guess I better get going or I'm gonna have to skip whirl pool time again."

Jason almost let her leave the car but at the last minute he grabbed her wrist,
"Hang on a sec, Meems. Looks like that's exactly right."

She gave him a puzzled look,
"What is?"

He leaned over and slid his hand into her hair at the nape of her neck and pulled her toward him. Mimi's startled gasp changed to a sigh as his lips settled on hers and he kissed her properly. Jason finally ended it when he felt himself getting a little too turned on,
"That was for proving me wrong and saying yes to a date with me, even though I was being a jerk, and now it looks like you really are gonna miss whirlpool time again today. Better luck tomorrow. See you at 7, Meems."

Flustered, turned on, out of breath and deliriously happy, Mimi could barely get out a response,
"Uh huh. 7. Okay. Oh and Jason? Just so happens you've always been my favorite jerk."

He laughed in surprise,
"Thanks, I think!"

She smiled at him one more time as she finally exited the vehicle,
"It was definitely meant as a compliment. See ya!"

Jason was still smiling as he watched her walk away. As soon as she was out of sight, he went home to start setting things up for their date. When there was little else he could do until the start of the business day he headed back to the gym to pick her up.

As usual he dropped her off at the library after her workout but completely out of the blue she changed their usual pattern. She kissed him again before exiting the car. Not that he minded but he was curious enough to ask,
"And what was that for this time?"

She sighed,
"Am I being too pushy? It's just I guess I'm worried you're gonna change your mind and cancel for tomorrow night or that you'll think I changed my mind. Well I didn't and I won't. I can't read you, Jason; are you having second thoughts?"

He leaned over and gave her another lingering kiss on the lips,
"Nope. You know me enough by now, to know, that action is more my thing than thinking is; I barely manage to have first thoughts, never mind second ones."

That made her laugh and he smiled, feeling inordinately pleased with himself. He gave her one more quick kiss and she got out of the car.

He picked Leigh up at 7:20 and drove her to her best friend's place in the next town over so they could go to their school together. Leigh's best friend's older brother usually did that taxi run but he was having car trouble so Jason agreed to do it until he could get it fixed.

When he got back to Salem, he checked his watch and decided with an evil grin that his good buddy, Jet, needed an 8 am wake up call. He offered to pick him up and treat for coffee. After complaining jokingly about having his beauty sleep interrupted, Jet said he'd be ready in ten minutes.

Jason told Jet almost everything about he and Mimi on the way to the Java Cafe. By the time they got there, Jet was grinning from ear to ear,
"You dog! It's about time you admitted it! I knew you were in love with her!"

Jason blushed then, suddenly uncomfortable,
"Whoa! Hold up! I never said that! I mean I like her a lot and she's definitely hot but love? Come on Jet. I don't do that mushy falling in love crap. I'll just see where this can go, you know? I'm just glad I was wrong and she didn't say no after all."

Jet smirked, sniffed the air pointedly and raised an eyebrow,
"I'm detecting the smell of bullshit, Jase. Sure you don't fall in love- just like crushes are for idiots!"

Jason rolled his eyes, stifling a smile, as he refused to argue anymore nor admit to anything either. He flipped Jet the obligatory bird and ordered his and Mimi's coffees. Jet ordered his own. With the piping hot coffees in a carry-out cardboard tray, they got back in Mimi's car and Jason drove Jet back to the hotel. He thanked Jason for the wake-up call and coffee then paused before getting out of the car,
"So when are Leigh's parents coming back? End of next week?"

Jason groaned aloud, closing his eyes and shaking his head,
"Aww man! Seriously, Jet! Give it a rest would you? It shouldn't even matter to you - she's fifteen! Why don't you give Stephanie a call? Give Leigh some space, so she can get over her crush on you already."

Jet bit his tongue to avoid admitting to Jason that he fully reciprocated Leigh's feelings for him. He shrugged and faked a grin,
"I know you're right, you're right. Maybe I'll call her tonight."

Jet knew Jason would misunderstand and think he meant Stephanie and for now he decided that what Jason didn't know wouldn't hurt either of them.

Jason was so focused on his plans with Mimi that he didn't catch on to what Jet had said. He just grinned encouragingly,
"No maybes, Jet, just get 'er done! I know you won't regret it! Call me on Sunday while Meems is at church?"

Jet nodded and got out of the car. He shoved his hands in his pants pockets with his shoulders hunched toward his ears as he watched Jason drive away,
"I don't know if you'll ever get past my feelings for Leigh, Jase, but I know I never will. It's like your girl Mimi says; Leigh won't be fifteen forever. I just gotta be patient and hope it really is more than a crush for her, too."

Jet walked to Salem Place mall instead of returning to his room and he headed straight for the jeweler's.
*****

Jason stood by the car waiting for Mimi and couldn't hold back his grin when he spotted her approach. She grinned back and joined him with her hand already stretched out to receive her coffee. He was leaning against the front passenger door and showed no sign of moving. She gave him a curious look,
"Shouldn't we get going, Jase?"

He shrugged,
"We have a few minutes, unless you're in a rush for some reason that I don't know about yet?"

Stunned by his answer, she blinked her widened eyes and shook her head,
"Oh. No. No rush."

He patted the back door on the passenger side,
"In that case pull up a door, saved you a clean spot right here."

She grinned and leaned against the car with him as they sipped their coffees. She nearly choked in surprise as she felt him take her free hand in his but she didn't resist. She chanced a look sideways to find him looking at her with a small, sexy smile on his lips. She was enjoying the moment they were having so much that it made her nervous. She gave in to the anxiety and blurted out,
"Okay what has gotten into you? Usually you're in a rush to send me off to school for the day and have time to yourself. What gives?"

He frowned and released her hand,
"Nothing. Forget it. You're right. We should get going now."

She grabbed his hand again,
"Hang on a second. I wasn't complaining, Jason, I was just curious. If we still have time I'd like to just stay and enjoy my coffee with you. Can we?"

He nodded and relaxed against the car again,
"Yeah. We're still okay for time."

Mimi wiggled her fingers to entwine them with his and he obliged immediately, glancing sideways at her in wonder. He took several sips of his coffee in a row to fight his urge to kiss her again right there, in broad daylight where anyone walking by could see. He was fairly certain that would not be okay with her yet. His watch alarm sounded disrupting their moment and he shrugged apologetically,
"Okay now we are officially out of time. I gotta get you to the school."

They let go of each other's hand and got in the car. Jason double checked that she had her seat belt on and drove her to Salem University. As soon as he had parked, she leaned across to kiss him again and he eagerly met her halfway. Before she could get out though Jason cleared his throat,
"Uhh, Meems?"

She gave him a blank look,
"Yeah?"

He motioned back and forth between them with his finger,
"This kissing stuff? Is that just today or from now on?"

Mimi blushed hard,
"If it bothers you I'll stop, Jas -"

He made a grimace of exasperation,
"I didn't say that! It's just I mean if I kiss you tomorrow on our date I just wanna know is it gonna get me slapped?"

Mimi grinned then in relief,
"There are certain circumstances I might be tempted to slap you, Jason, but one, I'd never actually do it, and two, kissing me is definitely not one of them."

He nodded and then sighed,
"I don't suppose you're gonna tell me what circumstances would tempt you to? So I can at least try not to piss you off?"

She shrugged smiling sympathetically,
"Sorry Jase, even I won't know until it's happening."

He sighed again,
"That's what I figured. See you at 2 then. Hang on, c'mere first. You did say this was okay right?"

After his kiss, she was left breathlessly happy and so she corrected herself,
"Did I say it was okay? I was wrong; it's so much better than that. See you at 2. Bye, Jase."

He watched her until she disappeared from view and then drove to Salem Place to pick up the rest of the surprise he was planning for her for their date on Saturday. He knew just which store to go to. He breezed in and made a bee-line for the exact thing he had in mind. Ten minutes later he left the store with his new purchase and took it home to put it with the rest of the stuff. Then he called Tuscany's to confirm the dinner reservations that he'd made for them even before he'd asked her out.

He smiled to himself, thinking about her, as he rolled up his sleeves to tackle the housework and laundry that had piled up in his parents' absence. He had to get everything back in shape today because they were coming home sometime on Saturday and he didn't want his Dad and step-Mom to be disappointed in him yet again. His grin widened self-deprecatingly as he thought out loud,
"Right! It has nothing to do with Meems coming over tomorrow, at all! Shit, I'm more far gone than I thought. As if I'm doing housework to impress a chick! For the 'rents? Seriously? Did you really think you could talk yourself into believing that load of crap? As if, Masters; you're so fuckin' whipped. Just shut up and keep vacuuming, Molly Maid two-point-oh."

Jason shook his head sheepishly and kept working until he deemed the Masters' home was fit for a certain auburn-haired woman's company.

Chapter 25

Even though she'd just seen him less than three hours before, Mimi was a bundle of nerves waiting for Jason to pick her up for their date. She checked her hair and make-up several times each. She double checked her stockings for runs and made sure an extra pair were in her purse, just in case. She looked at her watch and sighed. He wasn't due for another fifteen minutes yet. She jumped when her phone rang and then her heart sank, as she immediately convinced herself he was calling to cancel at the last minute. Already feeling dejected she answered wistfully,
"Hello."

On the other end of the call, Jason frowned,
"Meems? Everything okay? You sound umm upset?"

She shrugged and sat down with a heavy sigh,
"No. Just disappointed."

"About what?"

"About our date."

"What? I thought you said you wanted to go? Are you canceling on me? Now?"

"What? No! I mean yes I want to go on our date! I thought you were canceling; I thought that's why you were calling."

"Not a chance! Why would you think I was canceling? You know what- never mind, it doesn't matter. I was just calling to see if you were running on time or late."

Mimi froze blushing,
"Umm I'm almost ready."

He sighed and was silent for a few awkward seconds,
"Meems? Would it be alright if I come a few minutes early. I've been ready for like a half hour."

Mimi closed her eyes and chuckled,
"Please do. I've been ready for that long too."

His brow raised,
"Really? I thought you just said ..."

"I know what I said, I fibbed - I didn't want you to think I was pathetic being ready early."

Jason grinned in relief,
"Is that what you think of me, then?"

Her face fell in horror,
"No! I didn't mean ..."

His laugh cut her off,
"Relax Meems! I'm just teasing. I'll be at your door in about two minutes."

It was her turn to frown in confusion,
"Two minutes? How the ...? Jase, where are you?"

"Around the corner. I almost made it to your place and realized I was too early and I didn't want you to feel rushed."

"You sure that's the only reason you waited? You really weren't worried I'd think you were over eager?"

"Nope. The minute I asked you out the over eager ship sailed; no point worrying about it now."

Mimi smiled flattered,
"Aww, that was really sweet, Jase."

"Answer your door."

"But there's nobo ... "

A loud knock interrupted and she opened the door with her phone still to her ear,
"Hi."

He grinned and pointed,
"I think you can hang up on that guy. Fuck you look hot! We staying for a bit or are you ready to go?"

Mimi quickly shut her phone off blushing, initially at not having hung up sooner and then at his way with words,
"I'm good, Jase. We can go."

He looked her up and down with obvious approval before sliding his hands around her waist and capturing her mouth in a passion laced kiss. He pulled away with obvious reluctance,
"Yes you are; damn good, even. Mmm. Oh sorry about that, Meems; I think I kissed off all that tasty, shiny stuff. What flavor is that? You gonna put more on?"

Mimi laughed and planted another quick kiss on him,
"It's vanilla peach and yes."

He grinned and nodded his head at the car,
"Let's go, then."

She accepted his offered elbow with an impressed smile and he escorted her to the car. He opened the passenger door for her and saw her safely belted in before he went round to the driver's side and got in himself. He reached for the key in the ignition and Mimi stayed his hand,
"I just wanted to say you're looking mighty fine yourself, Jase. Not very often I've seen you in a suit and tie."

He shrugged,
"Learned a long time ago chicks dig me more if I dress up. Whatever works."

Her jaw opened in mock surprise,
"Jason!"

He smirked,
"What? Well, you just said you like it right?"

She just laughed and shook her head,
"Point taken and thanks for reminding me I'm so special."

His face sobered,
"Better believe you are. Don't let my usual crap make you think otherwise. Ever."

Surprised at his rush to reassure her she smiled and nodded as she touched his hand,
"Okay, Jase, thanks, I'll try to keep that in mind. You've been so secretive about our date tonight. Now can you tell me where we're going?"

He grinned and backed out of the driveway,
"Nope! You'll see! Need to know basis."

She pouted and crossed her arms,
"Fine. I guess I should be grateful you at least told me what not to wear!"

He glanced sideways appreciating her head to toe again,
"Did I mention yet that you look hot?"

She shrugged and smiled coyly,
"I don't remember but thanks and as long as you think so, well as you said ... whatever works!"

He laughed out loud at that and nodded his head in amusement,
"Trust me it does!"

Mimi suddenly realized where they were going and she looked at Jason in amazement,
"Tuscany's? Really? Has Maggie forgiven you then?"

He shrugged sheepishly,
"Not exactly but she did lift the ban on me after I apologized for last time and told her why I wanted to eat there. She says it's only temporary but she might let me come back in the future too, as long as I don't cause any trouble tonight. Hey Meems? I really don't want to get us kicked out of there so if I start ..."

"Yes, Jason, I'll elbow you as needed."

He grinned,
"Excellent! Thanks. I just want us to have a good time together tonight."

She shrugged,
"Then we will. You can do anything you set your mind to."

He was obviously surprised,
"Thanks for the vote of confidence but how can you be so sure?"

She smiled knowingly,
"You're a jock not just an average one either - an over achiever - which means you are goal oriented. I bet you already have the entire night mapped out in your head. The only thing that might screw up your game plan is if I don't co-operate- am I right so far?"

He nodded stunned into silence.

She kissed his cheek,
"Well, you can relax. I'm not your opponent; we're on the same team. I have no intention of giving you a valid reason to never ask me out again."

Still lost for words but suddenly filled with confidence all he could do was grin at her appreciatively before escorting her into Tuscany's.

Chapter 26
by Fidomom

Mimi noted the way Maggie Horton's pinched, barely tolerant face brightened into a hostess smile as her gaze left Jason's face and turned to Mimi,
"Good evening, Mimi. You look lovely tonight."

Mimi returned her smile even though she felt like kicking the woman in the shin for her obvious snub of Jason,
"Hi Mrs. Horton. Thank-you. Love the new decor here."

Maggie's eyes hardened at the subtle insult despite her fixed smile,
"Thank-you. I do believe your table is ready. Right this way, please."

As soon as they were seated and Maggie left them to peruse the menu, Jason leaned over the table to ask,
"Okay what did I do wrong this time? Why was she so snotty just now?"

Mimi reached for Jason's hand and patted it reassuringly,
"That was not about you, that was because I refused to lie and tell her she looked good; instead I complimented the restaurant, as the saying goes if you can't say something nice ... change the subject and make something up."

Jason grinned but narrowed his eyes skeptically,
"Nice one, Meems, but I'm pretty sure the saying is if you can't say something nice shut the hell up!"

Mimi's eyes widened in surprise and she smirked at him,
"Nice try Jason but you're so busted - you've watched Bambi! No, you memorized and paraphrased an actual line from Bambi! Be very glad we aren't still in highschool because that would have been too good a piece of 411 to resist dropping in the halls of Salem High!"

He sat back with his mouth open in mock horror and put a hand to his heart,
"What? Are you making fun of me, now?"

She shook her head,
"Actually no. You just surprise me sometimes. Makes me wonder what other interesting things I might find out about you, that are not common knowledge."

He winked and shrugged mysteriously. Mimi rolled her eyes in amusement and considered what she wanted for dinner.

It took several minutes after they'd both decided, before a waiter came by to take their orders. Jason was clearly annoyed. Mimi saw him open his mouth to say something and she kicked his foot under the table. At his startled look in her direction, she gave him a pointed look and shook her head no. Then she turned to the waiter and smiled charmingly before ordering a medium rare steak dinner. Jason raised his brows in surprise and ordered the same thing. As soon as the waiter left, Mimi spoke quietly across the table,
"More flies with honey, Jason. When we order dessert, try smiling too."

He frowned,
"She's not going to kick me out just because I don't get chummy with her employees, Mimi."

Mimi sighed,
"Forget Mrs. Horton, do it because I said so, please, Jason? It's not for nothing - just trust me on this."

He continued to look bewildered but shrugged,
"Okay Meems. I'll play it your way, then. So you wanna dance while we're waiting on our food?"

Mimi nearly choked on her water mid sip,
"Me? Dance? No! I don't. I can't. Kind of surprised you do."

Jason stood up, smiling and holding out his hand in invitation,
"Dancing's on my whatever works list. Come on, Meems, you don't have to know how; just follow my lead. No fancy footwork involved, promise. Please?"

One look into his pleading greens and she knew he'd won. She groaned aloud and accepted his hand reluctantly,
"If I step on your feet don't you even think about complaining - this is all on you, Jase!"

He chuckled as he gathered her in his embrace,
"My feet survived you stomping on them all during highschool, I think they can handle a dance or two with you."

She furrowed her brow,
"All through highschool? What are you talking about?"

He laughed out loud,
"I'm talking about the fact that you bullied me in highschool! I was supposed to be the resident highschool bully! I didn't even realize it back then, it was only from talking about it with Jet. He said it and ever since then, the more I think of it the more I think he's right. You have been bossing me around and intimidating me for years, Lockhart, and there was usually either an elbow to my ribs or a foot stomp involved."

Mimi's eyes widened,
"Intimidating? I intimidated you? Me? How?"

He smiled into her eyes, then leaned in to kiss her ear. He whispered,
"Because back then, you were the only one whose opinion of me, ever mattered to me. Still does too. I don't mean my reputation, I mean me. I think you probably even kept me from being expelled more than once. Sometimes you'd stop me before I could even get started making a bad move. It was uncanny. You still do that to me. Like with that lazy ass waiter who took forever to take our orders. I was about to tear a strip off him and you interrupted me. I'm still not sure why but since you're the one person I've never been able to rebel against, I had to go with it."

Mimi smiled and kissed his cheek,
"I think you just paid me the highest compliment anyone ever has, Jase. Thank-you."

He smiled back and kissed her forehead,
"Looks like our food is on it's way and you didn't even step on my toes once. A new precedent has been set, no more saying you can't dance, there, Twinkletoes, because you just did."

Mimi looked down at her feet then up at Jason in wonder,
"I did too didn't I? I was so busy talking to you I barely remember the dancing part. Huh."

He led her back to her seat and pulled out her chair for her before returning to his own seat just in time for the waiter to set their dinner plates in front of them.

They ate their meal together then ordered desserts. Jason forced himself to smile at the waiter and looked to Mimi for approval. She beamed happily at him for his effort and he decided it didn't matter why she'd insisted; he'd have done just about anything for her to smile at him like that. He invited her to dance again while waiting on dessert and this time she accepted without hesitation.

When they'd finished their desserts, Mimi excused herself to go to the ladies room and Jason asked for the bill. When Mimi returned he gave her the exact amount of the bill and tried to excuse himself to go to the men's room but Mimi stopped him with a look that made his stomach clench in dread. He shrugged,
"Okay now what'd I do wrong? What's with the look?"

She put one hand on her hip and quirked an accusing brow,
"You didn't leave a tip."

His jaw dropped indignantly,
"I'll give them a tip - don't be lazy! There! How's that?"

She squinted her eyes menacingly as she smiled and caressed his cheek,
"Jason, honey, I like the food here and the decor and the next time we come here I want them to remember us fondly. Capicce?"

His shoulders sagged in defeat,
"Fine. Here."

Her hand remained out,
"I said fondly not vaguely."

He handed her another ten and gave her a questioning look,
"Okay?"

There was that smile he craved, again, as she nodded and went to pay their bill. He watched her walk away and was hit with the realization that she was the future he wanted more than he'd ever wanted anything; he intended to grow old with that woman. He grinned from ear to ear as he felt a sense of calm and peace wash over him and he muttered in happy wonder,
"She just called me honey. I could so get used to that. Ha! She even said next time. Right fucking on."

He made his quick pit stop to the men's room and then escorted her back out to her car.

Chapter 27
by Fidomom

Mimi gave Jason her best rendition of puppy dog eyes as he drove,
"Come on please? Just tell me."

He glanced over and sucked in a breath,
"Damn that's really cute but uhh no. No spoilers. You'll find out when we get there."

She scowled and stuck out her tongue at him,
"God, you're still as mean as ever!"

He shrugged and grinned,
"I never said I could change. Am I still your favorite?"

She gasped indignantly,
"You don't get to ask that at a time like this!"

He laughed at her expression,
"Why not?"

She crossed her arms and pouted,
"Because. You just don't."

He winked at her,
"So I am huh."

She fought a grin and lost,
"Just shut up and drive Mr. Smug."

He took one of his hands off the wheel briefly to rub her shoulder with the backs of his fingers,
"If it helps, you'll know the answer in about five minutes. Surprises can be good things, Meems. You'll see."

She narrowed her eyes suspiciously,
"You're purposely trying to keep me off balance."

He frowned and shook his head,
"No, that ain't it. I just think you deserve this; you have your whole day, every day planned out to the minute. You always know what's coming next and I think you need to get that shook up sometimes. Like tonight. It would make me really happy if you would just relax and let things happen however they're going to. If there's worrying to do just let me do it for a change. At the end of the night, if you've had a lousy time, then next time I'll clear every single minute with you first, deal?"

She stared at him as she pondered his terms,
"I'm thinking."

He pulled into the parking lot and parked. He looked over at her,
"Well, we're here. You gonna take the deal?"

She bit her lip nervously,
"This is harder for me than you think, Jase."

He raised his brows,
"Don't be so sure that I don't know that. I've known you since kindergarten and I've seen first hand the schedule you have yourself on; you think I don't get that it's hard for you to give up control of every little detail? Help a guy out here, for once I have good intentions, are you really gonna deny me a chance to prove I can do something nice?"

She laughed and shook her head,
"Oh you had to go there! Fine, Jase. I will try not to pester you for any more spoilers but I'm not accepting your deal. Uh-uh! Wait! I'm not done! I'm not accepting your deal because we can't really expect me to love giving up managing every minute, right out of the gate. Takes time to break a person of this sort of thing. I guess if I want to micromanage a date with you I'll have to be the one to ask you out sometime. Who knows? Maybe I will."

He grinned,
"You know I'll always be your favorite "guaranteed yes" jerk!"

She grabbed his face and kissed him quick and hard on the mouth,
"Okay enough with the gloating; let's go in already."

They walked to the ticket booth with her arm around his waist and his arm around her shoulders; both oblivious to the wistful, envious glances from several lonely, single people in the line-up with them.

Mimi's eyes widened skeptically as she heard Jason telling the girl in the ticket booth what movie they were about to watch, but she quickly masked her misgivings when Jason glanced at her to see her reaction. He was disappointed to see she didn't have one. He escorted her to their seats and then he returned to the canteen to get drinks only, since they were both still full from dinner.

Jason smiled to see that Mimi had already lifted the arm rest between their seats. He sat down, handed her drink to her and put his arm around her shoulders again. She smiled up at him and scooted a bit closer to lean her head against him.

Within the first two minutes of the movie, Mimi breathed a sigh of relief and spontaneously kissed his cheek. At his pleased but questioning look she told him in his ear she'd tell him later. He shrugged still smiling and turned his attention back to the movie.

A few minutes later, the voice narrating the movie declared,
"Life is so fucking good, I can taste it in my spit."

Jason muttered,
"Damn straight." at the same moment that Mimi said,
"Amen."

They looked at each other in surprise and smiled.

Later, during the movie, Mimi and several other females in the audience laughed out loud, as the men fidgeted and looked insulted for the guy on the screen because some chick was playing him over the phone. Jason glanced at Mimi clearly chagrined,
"It's not that funny."

She only grinned back without saying a word and rubbed her knee against his suggestively. He looked at their knees touching then looked her in the eye and rubbed his against hers in return. She lifted her head and he met her half way for a light lingering kiss. Then they settled back in their seats to watch the rest of the movie.

After the movie was over, they went back to her car. Once Mimi was in and buckled up, Jason got in and did the same before finally asking,
"Okay so it's later, what happened at the beginning of the movie that you liked so much?"

Mimi chuckled,
"Well, when I heard you say "Layer Cake" it sounded suspiciously like some banal, chick flick, romantic comedy but as soon as the movie started it was clear that it wasn't. I was surprised and grateful that's all. Thank-you for not subjecting me to a chick flick, Jase. I prefer action movies."

He grinned slyly,
"I figured that out in 5th grade little miss tomboy!"

She looked at her outfit pointedly and back at him,
"In case you haven't noticed I'm not really a tomboy anymore, Jason."

He blushed and gulped hard as he also looked her up and down again,
"I know that! I have eyes! Shit did I forget to tell you look hot? I know I been thinking it all night; didn't I say it out loud yet?"

She burst out laughing,
"Yeah, Jase, you may have mentioned it. Thanks, hon."

Jason got a tingle in his spine at her casual term of endearment and just smiled as he pulled out of the parking lot. He was quietly impressed that she hadn't asked yet where they were going next, even when he turned left instead of right at Broadway and Main. He knew she'd figure it out pretty quick. Sure enough as soon as he turned off of North Broadway onto East Bryan she leaned forward and looked sideways at him,
"Okay why are we going to your place?"

He grinned as he turned onto Woodland,
"You'll find out soon enough."

She sighed in defeat and sat back. He backed into his parents' driveway and pocketed the car keys. He led her by the hand to the front door. He opened it and invited her to precede him inside. He gave her a quick tour of the main floor and directions to the upstairs bathroom in case she needed it. Then he took her downstairs to the basement rec room. Jason frowned to see Leigh sprawled on the sofa in front of the tv down there,
"Hey cuz. What are you doing down here? I know I told you I had plans for this room tonight."

Leigh quickly snapped off the tv set then looked up, stuck her tongue out at Jason and smiled at Mimi,
"Hi Mimi. Don't worry, Jase, I'm not even crashing your date, I was just checking out that new game you boug ..."

With his back to Mimi, Jason made a cutting motion with his finger against his throat to Leigh and she stopped herself short,
"Anyway, rec room is all yours cuz. And Mimi? Don't hesitate to call me back down here, if you need back-up against him."

Mimi glanced at Jason's back, then at Leigh again,
"I think I can handle him by myself but thanks anyway, Leigh."

Jason looked over his shoulder at Mimi, in pleased surprise. She smiled when she saw him looking at her and shrugged, daring him with her eyes, to contradict her statement. He didn't. Leigh grinned at both of them, shaking her head and rolling her eyes. She hastily retreated upstairs leaving them alone again.

Jason turned and took Mimi's hand to lead her to the sofa,
"Here. Sit right there. Get comfy. Gotta grab a couple things and then you'll find out what the last surprise is. I see that look on your face don't even bother asking for hints!"

She rolled her eyes and sighed,
"Fine. Glad to be sitting again at least; been a while since I wore heels and my feet are killing me."

Jason paused on his way out of the room and spun back toward her,
"Take them off then. Here gimme your foot, I'll undo the strap."

Mimi resisted,
"No! I can't Jason! My feet always swell at night and if I take them off now I won't be able to get them back on later when it's time for me to go home."

He raised his eyebrows disagreeably,
"So what? If you can't get them back on later, I'll just carry you out to the car and then into your place."

Her eyes widened,
"Carry me? Oh come on, Jason, as if I'm gonna let you do that!"

He grinned,
"You think I can't, is that it?"

Before she could answer he scooped her up off the sofa with very little exertion. She had little choice except to hang on. She blushed,
"Okay you can put me down now."

He shook his head,
"You gonna take off your shoes? I'm not putting you down until you say yes and the longer you resist the longer you're waiting for the last surprise."

She gasped and muttered indignantly,
"That's blackmail!"

He winked,
"Also on my list of whatever works!"

She lightly swiped at his shoulder with her hand,
"Jason! You're unbelievable! Fine! I'll take off my shoes but I'm gonna feel pretty ridiculous being carried home later, when I'm perfectly capable of walking if I just leave them on!"

He set her down again and reached for her foot. Mimi watched passively as he undid the straps on both and eased them off her feet. She winced as circulation returned to the areas of skin still indented with strap impressions. Jason frowned then,
"Come on. Swing your legs up onto the couch."

Warily she did as he suggested and then let out a gasp of intense pleasure as he began to massage one of her feet,
"Oh damn! Jason you don't have to d ... oh God that feels good!"

He smiled and did the same to the other one. She didn't voice anymore token protests. When he saw that she was quite relaxed and content he stopped,
"Better now?"

She nodded, "Much. Thank-you."

Spontaneously he grabbed both her feet and quickly kissed them,
"Good. I'll be right back."

Mimi had to abruptly close her mouth from the shock,
"You just kissed my feet."

He shrugged,
"Yeah so? They're cute; I couldn't resist."

Before she could think of anything else to say he sprinted up the stairs.

Mimi waited until she was sure he was gone before she bolted off the couch to check out the new game Leigh had mentioned earlier. She laughed out loud at the title but quickly stifled it. She put the game back and settled back onto the couch trying to look as though she hadn't got up. She grinned in amusement as she thought,
"You're the one in for a surprise, Masters! I know exactly what this is about."

When Jason returned he had snacks, drinks and a back pack, from which he removed, a portable radio/CD player, three CD's, an ear piece for hands free cell phone use and a mini electronic voice and sound effects recorder with playback function.

All of it was for use during the game that he intended for her to play. He explained as he set up the game,
"I'm really hoping this will help."

Mimi feigned uncertainty,
"I don't know about this, Jason."

She smirked behind his back but schooled her features back into seriousness when he turned around again. He handed her the game controller,
"It's no big if you don't get far with this right now but maybe you'll get better if you play it regularly; at least that's what I'm hoping for."

Mimi just nodded and started to play the game. Every few minutes Jason would purposely distract her with heckles from the voice and sound effects player, or by asking her to change the CD track. He even called her on her cell mid-game while sitting right beside her. When she'd leveled up for the fourth time Jason threw a popcorn kernel at her,
"Okay, Meems! Enough! Obviously you didn't need practice. What gives then? How come you can drive like a pro racecar driver when you play this game, without getting distracted, no matter what I do and yet when you're driving a real car you get into so many scrapes that you need to carry cards with your insurance info on them? I'm obviously missing something."

Mimi purposely crashed the car onscreen laughing as she answered him,
"Yes. You are. It isn't outside things that mess me up when I'm driving, it's the noise in my head which only happens when I'm upset about ... about something."

He frowned in concern,
"So that means you get upset a lot then. I mean if you have them cards to hand out. That's just weird to me. In the past two weeks I have only seen you get upset once and it was for seven pretty good reasons. What usually upsets you that often, that you need cards?"

Mimi froze and blurted,
"It varies. Anyway, there's a really good reason I haven't been getting upset as much as I usually do; he's about 5'11 has dark blonde hair, gorgeous green eyes and a hot bod. He's kind of a jerk but I really don't mind so much."

He grinned and it turned into a chuckle,
"So I've been keeping you in a good mood is that what you're trying to tell me?"

She smiled and sidled up to him on the couch wrapping her arms around his neck as she kissed his mouth a few times,
"That is exactly what I'm saying. It's not every day a girl gets to live out a dream she's had since highschool."

His hands slid around her waist and he pulled her even closer, returning her kisses,
"Which dream is that?"

Her hands slid up the back of his head and she buried her fingers in his hair,
"The one where I have your willing, undivided attention for hours and hours. Oh! Uhh Jase? Behind you. We have company."

Without looking Jason muttered,
"Can't you see we're busy? I already told you twice now not to disturb us."

His head whipped around in surprise at the sound of an amused male voice,
"Well, son, yes, I can see that you're busy, however this is only our first warning."

Jason blushed and laughed,
"Hey, Dad, Claire. Sorry about that, thought you were Leigh."

Jason got up from the couch and hugged them both,
"Welcome home. So how was it? Oh! Dad, Claire, this is Mimi. C'mere Meems. This is my Dad, Dean and my step-mom, Claire."

Jason still had his arm around Mimi's shoulder, as Dean extended his hand to shake hers right after his wife had,
"Pleased to meet you, Mimi."

Mimi let out a nervous chuckle,
"Hi, Mr. Masters, we umm we've already met. It's me, Mimi Lockhart? Maybe it was too long ago now."

Dean's eyes widened,
"Oh my goodness! Mimi Lockhart! Wow! Of course I remember you sweetheart! Belle Black's 11th birthday party! Nice to see that you've decided being a girl is okay after all! I barely recognize you!"

Mimi laughed sheepishly,
"Yes, sir, my tomboy days are long gone."

Dean winked at her,
"I guess my son saw through it even then, because after that party he raved and complained about you non-stop for over a month!"

Claire laughed, lightly tugging on Dean's elbow,
"Dean, stop, honey, you're embarrassing him!"

Jason blushed,
"Dad!"

Mimi's brows rose in curiosity,
"Oh no, Jason, Mrs. Masters, really, let the man talk; I'd like to hear more about this!"

Jason sighed heavily,
"Fine! But let me tell her, okay? Just not right now."

His Dad held up both his hands with his palms out, in deference to Jason's plea,
"Of course, son. We'll leave you two alone again. Trip was great but we are both dead tired. Just wanted to come down and let you know we were back. By the way, two things, Jase - one, the house looks great - not what we expected to find at all; now I see why of course, I'm sure we have Mimi here to thank for your improved housekeeping skills... unless - you didn't make her clean up in here did you, son?"

Mimi and Jason both denied it with an emphatic shake of the head. Jason asked his Dad,
"And what's two?"

Dean furrowed his brow and pointed upstairs in the general direction of the driveway,
"Where's your T-Bird? I assume that's Mimi's car in the driveway?"

It was Mimi's turn to blush but Jason cut her off before she could confess,
"Short version is, it's in the shop and yes that's Mimi's car out there. I'll tell you the longer version tomorrow. Goodnight, Dad. Goodnight, Claire. Good to have you guys home."

Claire laughed,
"Tired of take-out, are you, Jase?"

He grinned and nodded,
"Hell yes! Aww, but you know it's more than that!"

She smiled and hugged him again, pressing a light kiss against his temple,
"Yes, we do and we missed you too. Goodnight, Jase."

Jason was taken aback by the way Mimi was looking at him when his parents had gone back upstairs,
"What?"

She shrugged tilting her head to one side as she looked at him,
"I never would have pegged you as being a good son. How have you kept this a secret so long?"

He shrugged smiling proudly,
"One of the benefits of being a bully is that nobody ever came over here or even wanted to."

Mimi touched his cheek,
"Shows how much you don't know. I wanted to."

That earned a smile from him,
"Because I'm your favorite jerk, right?"

She nodded slowly,
"Now, what was your Dad talking about, saying you were talking about me after Belle's birthday party? Don't even think of wiggling out of this or of glossing over because I have no problem asking your Dad later if you won't tell me or if I think you're holding out."

Jason's mouth opened in a mixture of indignation and awe,
"I swear I could take bully lessons from you! Okay okay. Geez. I was mad when you beat me at all the party games and I was impressed too. Honestly I think my Dad exaggerated - I don't think I went on about it for a month, maybe a week ... or two tops."

Mimi smiled contritely,
"Aww! On the one hand I'm sorry I showed you up since it upset you but on the other hand I kind of like the idea that I at least had your attention and for over a month even. Good."

He pursed his lips and muttered,
"It wasn't for that long, I just told you."

She stood toe to toe with him and slid one hand around his waist and cupped his chin with her other one,
"Jason. Look into my eyes and try to deny it one more time."

He blushed, grinning sheepishly and pulled his face away from her hand. He slid both his hands around her waist and pulled her closer again, then leaned in to drop a kiss on her nose,
"Whatever. That wasn't fair, Lockhart."

Mimi just smiled and pressed her cheek against his chest as they embraced. She sighed finally and asked him,
"So now what? I'm not tired and I don't want our date to be over yet."

Jason was surprised. He'd figured maybe meeting his parents on their first date was a bit too weird and she'd be anxious to get home and away from him. He offered hesitantly,
"Another round of that car racing game?"

She shook her head,
"No. Any other ideas?"

He shrugged,
"Go for a drive?"

She lifted her head in interest,
"Where?"

He shrugged,
"Doesn't matter to me. You have a preference?"

She bit her lip before blurting out,
"Deepest darkest Salem? And not drive anymore."

He grinned,
"Did you just say you want me to take you parking?"

She shrugged suddenly uncertain,
"Only if you want to. Nevermind, Jason. Forget it. I guess I should probably just go home. I may not be tired now but if I stay up too much later I'll be dragging my ass tomorrow."

He held her face in his palms,
"Hey. Come on Meems, what just happened there? If you really want to go home, then I'll take you home but for what it's worth anytime you want to go parking with me just let me know because I want to; like really want to. I just didn't feel right being the one to suggest it first, that's all. I don't expect any date to end with that, especially not with you and not to mention, not this soon either, but I'm not gonna say no, not if you're as into it as I am. Just tell me what you wanna do and that's what will happen."

Mimi searched his eyes for a few seconds before answering him,
"I don't want to go home. I don't want our date to be over yet, Jason."

He let out a long sigh of relief,
"Me either. You're in charge of the brakes. Anytime you want to stop just say so and I will. I won't get mad or hold a grudge, I promise. I might be disappointed and need a few minutes to calm down but I'm not going to think badly of you if you say stop or on the other hand even if you don't say stop. No matter which way things go it won't make me uncrazy about you. Just wanted to get that said because once I'm alone with you, in the dark, I might have some difficulty thinking clearly enough to say it then."

Her eyes welled up in gratitude,
"How'd you do that? Manage to say exactly the right thing; the very thing I needed to hear? Don't you have a reputation to live down to?"

He shrugged,
"I'm more concerned these days with living up to the smile on your face when you look at me. I don't think I deserve it yet but I want to in the worst way, Meems. Let's get out of here."

He made to pick her up in his arms but she halted him,
"Jason! You don't have to carry me yet! I can at least walk upstairs, you know."

He released her,
"Okay, but I wouldn't have minded. Got your shoes?"

She nodded, dangling them from her fingers, by the straps, as proof. He put his arm around her shoulder and kissed the side of her head as they ascended the stairs together.

Chapter 28 (NC-17)

Mimi watched Jason carefully as he drove them along a winding back road. She broke the easy quiet,
"You seem to know exactly where we're going."

He glanced over at her briefly and she saw the corner of his mouth curve upwards slightly,
"Yeah. You said deepest, darkest Salem and there's only one spot I know of fits that description."

She frowned as she puzzled out loud,
"Well, I know it isn't where everyone else goes to make out. How do you know about where we're going?"

Without taking his eyes off the road he felt for and found her hand. He squeezed it reassuringly,
"It's a place I like to go to think and clear my head and no I haven't ever brought anyone out here with me before."

Mimi laughed self-consciously,
"Geez, I guess I must have been pretty obvious for you to even get what I was thinking."

Jason put his hand back on the steering wheel,
"What if I had brought anyone else out here before? Would you have changed your mind before we even get there?"

She laughed out loud once,
"Honestly, Jason, probably. I've got a bit of a jealous streak especially where you're concerned. Is that gonna be a deal breaker for you? Me getting jealous over you sometimes?"

He shook his head as his lips jutted forward pensively,
"Nope. You got nothing to be jealous of anyway. Far as I'm concerned you're the one, none of my exes could ever even hope to live up to; even though I didn't realize I was comparing them like that."

Mimi huffed loudly,
"I wish you wouldn't do that, Jason! I wish you wouldn't act like you ever even noticed me in highschool. I was there. Trust me; you didn't. You excelled at ignoring me. Me, I'm the idiot who's been hung up on you for seven years so don't even try to feed me some line of crap about how my existence affected your relationships with other girls; until I scratched your stupid car I didn't even exist as far as you were concerned."

Jason's hands tightened on the steering wheel and a pulse started in his jaw. He slowed the car and pulled over. Leaving his hands on the wheel, he turned to look at her silhouette in the darkness,
"It isn't a line of crap. If it was I'd cop to that, since you're calling me on it. You only think I never noticed you. I didn't want you or anyone to know I had a thing for you. It wasn't minor either, it was bad. Guess I got good at hiding it. After a while I didn't have to hide it anymore because I stopped wishing and hoping that I could be different; that maybe I could quit being a jerk and a bully and maybe if I got up the nerve to ask you out, you wouldn't assume I was joking and shoot me down first and put me on the receiving end of the ridicule for a change. Eventually I gave up Mimi. I was always gonna be me and you were always gonna be the guaranteed no as in "not even if you were the last guy on earth" kind of no. No other answer would have made sense to me. I kept trying to figure out what I could do that might get me a different answer and I held out hope for a lot longer than I should have. Funny thing about hope, it can hurt like a son of a bitch and then it gets worse when you know it's time to stop. Then you get this acid bitter feeling inside and nothing makes it go away. Not booze, not sex, not expensive toys and then one day the thing you quit hoping for happens and that guaranteed no, kisses you right out of the fucking blue and like magic the bitterness is just gone and you wake up every fucking day wondering if this is the day you're gonna fuck it up so badly that she takes it all back again and the bitterness will come back too only it's gonna feel a hundred times worse than before because you dared to hope again when you fucking well knew better. That about sums up where I'm at right now."

Mimi was silently processing everything when she realized he had turned the car around and was heading back to the city. She put her hand on his forearm,
"Jason! You're going the wrong way!"

He shook his head resolutely,
"I don't think so. It's getting late and we still have an early, busy day tomorrow."

She was fighting a losing battle with tears,
"I see. I guess you're right. Home it is then. So much for me being in charge of the brakes."

He looked at her sharply,
"Not that I don't deserve it but don't jerk me around right now, okay?"

She snuffled and raised her voice,
"I'M NOT! You're the one who turned the car around! You said no matter how things went you wouldn't get mad at me - HA! Sure seems pretty clear to me that you are!"

He shook his head and huffed out a slow breath,
"No, Meems, I promise you I'm not, not even a little bit at least not at you. Maybe a bit at myself. Do you need a tissue?"

She dug through her purse stubbornly,
"I have some thanks. I don't understand you at all. Tonight was like my ultimate dream come true right up to and including the part where you told me your half of the story of us and then you go and turn the car around! You're giving me up again and once again I get no say, is that it? Or maybe it's that all that stuff you said was past tense. You're just not that into me anymore - you got over it and too bad for me if I didn't. Just my rotten timing that I missed it when you were and now you're not, so that's that, I guess."

This time when he pulled over, there was nothing careful or slow about it. Mimi barely had time to react before his mouth was on hers and his hands were everywhere all at once. So were hers. She broke their kiss to come up for air and to make a suggestion,
"Jason, we'd have more room in the back seat."

He took some deep ragged breaths,
"We can't. You specifically said there weren't supposed to be any sexual escapades in the back seat of your car."

She giggled,
"I do seem to recall saying that and rather loudly too if memory serves, but we're in luck because one, it is my car and two, I'm a woman and so it's my prerogative to change my mind. That rule is hereby abolished but only for you and me ....I mean if you're even interested."

He glared a warning at her and she grinned back at him. He came around to her door and lifted her out of the seat. He pushed the front passenger door closed with his foot and quickly opened the back one. He deposited Mimi on the backseat and crawled in after her, both of them picking up right where they'd left off.

Mimi stiffened nervously as she felt him tugging on her underwear. He stilled his hand and searched her face,
"Too far?"

She relaxed and smiled at him. She shook her head,
"Just nerves. I'm okay now."

He hesitated,
"Can I take them off of you?"

She was nodding her head as she pulled his head towards hers to kiss him some more. She gasped in surprised pleasure against his mouth as she felt his fingers slip inside her and she pressed herself closer to him, helping him reach even deeper.

He felt a responsive gush of hot liquid surge around his fingers as he whispered in her ear,
"Holy fuck you're juicy. I'm dying to taste you again."

Mimi's whole body tensed and she broke their kiss,
"What? What do you mean by again?"

Jason mentally kicked himself and tried to cover,
"It's just been a while since I've tasted pussy."

Her eyes narrowed suspiciously,
"No, you said taste me, again. Please explain. The truth would be great. Exactly when and where did you taste me? And why is this news to me?"

He made a move to pull his fingers out of her and she stopped him,
"No, you can keep doing that. Just answer the question."

He grinned and tried to distract her with an extra finger. She let out a moan that made him twitch but she still didn't let him off the hook,
"Jason, I mean it- you better tell me."

He kissed her neck and nibbled at her ear,
"Okay you're right. I probably should have told you. It's just you were already freaking out over the hickeys and I thought you might do me bodily harm if you knew where my fingers had been."

She frowned,
"Your fingers? How do you know? Were you awake for some of it after all? Anyway, you said taste ... oh my God ... tell me I didn't sleep through you going down on me!"

His eyes widened,
"No! At least, I'm pretty sure not. I wasn't awake for any of it, that's really the truth. For what it's worth though, my face didn't smell like you, just my fingers did and so I sucked on them until I couldn't taste you anymore."

He saw her mouth open in astonishment at the same moment he felt another surge of liquid heat between his fingers. He grinned and slowly pulled them out of her, successfully resisting her attempt to stop him this time. Maintaining eye contact with her, he slowly licked her juices off each finger and then put all of them in his mouth to suck on them. She fidgeted under him and whimpered, suddenly pushing forcefully downward on his shoulders. His brows rose in surprise and he yanked his fingers out of his mouth,
"Really? Right at the source?"

She nodded her head vigorously,
"God yes! Jas..OH MY GOD YES! Don't you ever stop! Oh yes, oh yes! Right there! No a little to the left! No no no my left my left! Yes! Right there right there! Oh Jase oh God yes! Lighter! Yeah just like that! Just stay right there, just don't lose that spot oh Jase, oh Jason yes yes yes yes oh God I'm so clo ... oh God I'm gonna cum! Oh my God Jason! Thank-you, thank-you, Jason! Oh God Jason, yes!"

He stopped licking and she floated back into reality just in time to hear him stifling a laugh. She raised her head,
"Are you ... are you laughing at me?"

He lost it then and ended up on his ass on the ground outside the car door, laughing so hard he had tears in his eyes. He was trying to get himself under control, knowing she could take it the wrong way. He finally managed to get out,
"Fuck Meems that rocked! You just gave a whole new and way better meaning to the term backseat driver!"

Mimi pouted,
"I don't really appreciate being made fun of at a time like this, Jason!"

He got back inside the car in a rush to reassure her. He lay on top of her and smoothed a stray strand of hair off her face,
"I'm sorry Meems, I'm not making fun of you it's just the whole backseat thing struck me as funny and for what it's worth even though I like to think I know what I'm doing when I do that - your directions helped. I like that you're so damn bossy! It's a huge turn on. I especially like that I made you feel so good ... for a few minutes anyway ... at least until I couldn't stop myself from laughing."

She grinned wryly,
"Backseat driver, huh? Okay fine I guess maybe it's a little bit funny. Nice save. Didn't think you had it in you to sweet talk your way clear of a fight."

He kissed her mouth,
"I don't; that was just the truth and it happened to work in my favor, that's all."

Mimi frowned and pushed his face away,
"God Jason you reek now! You better take me home so you can wash your face and rinse out your mouth because I really need to be kissing you and I can't until you do."

He grinned at her uncertainly,
"Are you joking?"

She fixed him with her infamous try me look and he laughed again as he sat up to put his shirt and jacket back on,
"Okay okay! Holy shit, I can't believe you're squeamish about this!"

She glared at him,
"Are you sure you'd like to keep laughing at me?"

He shook his head still grinning and helped her up too. He kissed her cheek and helped her get the rest of her clothes back on again, except for her underwear, which neither of them could find. He scooped her up in his arms and put her in the front seat again. Unthinkingly he tried to kiss her on the mouth again but she turned her head and put her hand on his chest, lightly pushing him away,
"Not yet, Jason. I mean it."

He rolled his eyes still smirking,
"Right. Sorry. I just forgot."

He stood up then to close her door and she spied the prominent bulge in his pants. She hooked her fingers into the front waistband of his pants and pulled,
"Hold it right there, Jason. We can't leave yet, after all."

He was about to lean down to ask why not when he felt her undoing his zipper. He put his hand on hers and stopped her,
"You don't have to do that, Meems. That's not why I went down on you. I ate you out because I really wanted to and that's the only reason. I can take care of that myself later."

She tugged on his front shirt tail until he leaned down to look at her. She put her hand on his face and fixed him with a resolute look of her own,
"I just made friends with your hand, don't give me a reason to feel like it's my competition now. I want this, Jason. You're always doing everything for me; maybe I'd like to do something nice for you for a change. Please?"

Jason searched her face discerningly. He pursed his lips considering everything and let out a deep sigh,
"I can't believe you're threatening to get jealous over my hand but aside from that we need to get something clear- right here, right now and I'm dead serious about this, don't you ever fucking say please to me - not for any reason. If there's something you want, you tell me and I'll do whatever it takes to give it to you, but you don't ever beg me for anything - that's just not right. You give me orders, period. You tell me; you don't ask me."

Mimi was taken aback by his vehemence,
"All this is over the word please? Can you tell me why at least?"

He shrugged,
"It's hard to explain a feeling Mimi. It just gets my back up the idea of you resorting to saying please- to me, of all people - just do me a favor and don't do it. In my mind, the way it's supposed to go is that you say jump and I say yes dear how high? and not ever the other way around, well except maybe for in the bedroom and even then I'm still gonna be all about making sure you get exactly what you want."

Mimi listened in stunned silence and then she started to grin,
"Did you just give me permission to bully you into submitting to my will anytime I like?"

He shrugged with a half smile,
"Yeah, pretty much."

Mimi grinned smugly as she pointed at the bulge in his pants,
"Well, in that case, your hand will have to find different ways to stay busy because that is only for me from now on. Don't even think about arguing."

He gave her a look of unabashed awe,
"Wouldn't dream of it. Fuck you turn me on."

She undid his pants button, released his erection from his boxer briefs and quickly slid it into her mouth. Jason gripped the roof of the car, laying his cheek against the edge of the door frame and bit his bottom lip in ecstasy as she proved her ownership to both of them.

Chapter 29 (NC-17)
by Fidomom

They were almost at Mimi's before she broke the silence, "Jason?"

He didn't even look, "Yeah?"

Undeterred she pressed on, "Are we okay? You been so quiet the whole way back."

He shot her a puzzled glance and then answered, "Okay? Umm yeah. I think so? Actually, I was starting to think we were better than okay. Did I miss something? Are you okay?"

She laughed lightly, "Yes, better than okay - kind of relieved you think so too. Just checking. You're hard to read."

He shrugged, "I don't mean to be. Or I don't know maybe I do; force of habit. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop I guess. You know, because everything's great so I can't help wondering what's gonna fuck it up? Something always does, usually me. Trying to figure out how to not do that this time. Didn't mean to make you think anything was wrong about tonight - if anything it's been too perfect - which just makes me kinda nervous."

Mimi smiled her appreciation for being clued in. His earlier silence made more sense to her now. She lightly touched his arm in a reassuring gesture, "Those are some pretty introspective thoughts for a guy who says he doesn't do much thinking. It's not all on you, anyway, Jason. Whatever this is, however it turns out, I have just as much potential to mess it up as you do. I'd rather not think like that though. I'd much rather just enjoy how things are right now; I like being near you and I really like having you all to myself."

He glanced at her and a smile tugged one corner of his mouth, "Right now is good for me too, Meems and I definitely like you having me all to yourself."

She laughed and shook her head, "Smartypants!"

He just grinned and pulled into her driveway. He was quick to get out and scoop her up to carry her to her door. As he stood up with her in his arms, she grinned and remarked, "So much for feeling ridiculous, a girl could actually get used to this sort of service!"

He kissed the side of her head, "Good. Anytime with or without shoes - say the word and you got it."

Mimi laughed in delighted surprise, "I believe you actually would too!"

He nodded still smiling and gazing at her warmly, "I said it didn't I?"

She rested her head against his shoulder and sighed contentedly as he carried her to the door. He insisted on not putting her on her feet until they were indoors. They were both laughing as he tried to unlock the door unsuccessfully a few times in his determination not to drop her. He finally got it unlocked and grinned at her triumphantly as he stepped over the threshold still carrying her. He thought to himself that it was good practice for when she was his wife someday and she wondered if he even realized that being carried over the threshold is typically reserved for new brides. The thought made her kind of sad; she found herself wishing he was the marrying kind and that he'd pick her. Her thought was interrupted as he abruptly set her on her feet and headed down her hallway directly to her bathroom. Feeling slighted at being dumped so fast, she was about to voice a protest just as he called out, "Where's your mouthwash?"

She stopped her complaint short and laughed in sudden understanding, "In the medicine cabinet!"

Silence followed by a hesitant, "Is it ... is it booby trapped?"

She laughed out loud again, "No, Jase, you're safe this time! I better hear gargling too! And scrub your face good!"

She heard a distinct gargling noise followed by the sound of him spitting and then he hollered back, "Yes, dear!"

Mimi gasped in wonder, feeling suddenly very happy to be home. She heard the water running for a few minutes longer and then he hurried back into the room. He quickly and firmly wrapped his arms around her, pulling her tightly to himself as he leaned in, "So? Better?"

Mimi rubbed her nose lightly against his cheek and breathed deeply. She nodded, "Much."

She didn't get a chance to say another word because he immediately dove at her mouth with his, kissing her hungrily. She gave as good as she got and at some point they ended up laying on her sofa making out again as they had in the car. Mimi was tugging at his shirt trying to remove it, telling him between kisses, "I want your shirt off, Jase. I have to feel your skin again."

He paused and obliged her demand. He kissed her again then pulled back briefly, "Yours too?"

She didn't even pause. She nodded and pulled his mouth back to hers, "Yes, yes, yes."

He didn't stop with her shirt and bra. Before Mimi could think twice he had her completely undressed and she felt only relief for it. He stopped kissing her and looked into her eyes, "I want to look at you. Are you shy?"

She shook her head, "Not with you I'm not. You can look."

He slowly eased back from his position on top of her, his eyes gliding over her body as more and more of her came into view. He licked his lips as he kneeled between her knees, his eyes traveling up and down her body in an attempt to memorize her. He finally found her eyes again and declared utterly awestruck, "Holy fuck, you're even more beautiful than I pictured. I could see you a little bit in the car earlier too and I knew you were hot but damn, Meems, you're the closest thing to perfect I've ever laid eyes on! That gym routine you put yourself through is definitely paying off! You drive me so fucking crazy!"

Mimi smiled, blushing at his lavish praise and enjoying his rapt attention. She half sat up and pulled him back down with her, "Is that so? And do you like being driven crazy?"

He nodded and kissed her neck, "By you? Definitely! As long as you realize I intend to return the favor."

She laughed and nibbled his ear, "Good. I would have insisted on it, anyway. Drive me crazy, Jase."

He looked her in the eye as he licked one of her nipples, "Deal or no deal, all day, everyday, for as long as you say so."

To his surprise that made her frown. He wondered what he'd said wrong. He gave her a questioning look. She smiled and touched his face, "I've been wondering about that a lot, Jason. About our deal. What happens when you get your car back? You gonna just say see ya and exit stage left on me?"

He rushed to kiss her hard on the mouth and spoke against her lips between more kisses, "Oh hell no. I don't know what's gonna happen about the driving stuff - haven't figured that part out yet but I do know there's no way in hell I want this to stop - not anytime soon - maybe never. I'm thinking you might be stuck with me until you kick me to the curb, even then I'm not so sure I'll be easy to get rid of."

She affectionately pushed her fingers through his short blond hair as she narrowly avoided another kiss and smiled, "So you're threatening to stalk me now if I try to send you away?"

He grinned and stole another kiss, "Hey, whatever works! I just don't want to give this up; life without you sucked and I didn't even realize how much until you kissed me and kept kissing me all day long. As if I want to go back to a life without you; without your smile. Fuck that shitty existence. Deal be damned, I'm so not giving you up."

She wrapped her arms around his lower back and groped his ass through his dress pants as she lifted her head toward his next kiss, "That's all I wanted to know. C'mere you. Remind me again where we were."

She was trying to get his pants off when they both heard his watch beep. He closed his eyes and groaned, "Damn it. Where the hell did the time go? You need to go to bed and I need to get home. It's quarter to two. We could both get a solid four if I leave right now. I know you need more than that. I shouldn't have stayed so long."

She prevented him from getting up, "Oh, no you don't mister. You are not leaving. You're sleeping here tonight. I get to fall asleep in your arms and wake up there too - on purpose this time."

He looked at the way they were wrapped up together and raised his brows skeptically, "I don't know, Meems, considering what happened last time and how much things have changed since then I'm not so sure we should do that. Definitely not if you stay naked. We made out before without waking up I hardly think I'll stop to put on a condom in my sleep if we wound up going even further this time."

Mimi bit her lip seeing his point but not wanting to let him leave, "What if we both have on underwear and pajama bottoms? I have drawstring ones I could double bow them really tight?"

He chuckled and shook his head, "Sure, fine, you win. I'll stay. You just better hope your nervous bladder doesn't act up after you've already tied them. Just so we're clear I hate the idea of you putting clothes on ... ever again. I like naked Meems better than just about anything. But at least I get to cuddle up to your naked tits all night, right?"

She lightly hit him with a nearby throw pillow, "You have such a way with words but yes, Jason, you get to do that much."

He shrugged grinning wickedly, "What? I'm a tit man! What can I say? I like your tits - a lot."

She rolled her eyes smiling sheepishly, "Actually I'm sort of relieved - I was starting to think you didn't like them."

His baffled, incredulous look made her laugh self-consciously, "Well, it's just that I catch you staring at them sometimes and until tonight you never once so much as tried to touch me there, I just started thinking they were the wrong size or something or that you didn't like seeing that much of my cleavage - that maybe you thought I looked too trashy."

He grinned and hugged her, "Wrong all the way around. Perfection, Meems. Yummy, tasty, beautiful perfection. I fucking love when you wear them tight shirts with the buttons nearly popping, even if it is very distracting. Your cleavage is like my nirvana. And why I was keeping my hands off is because I thought you'd end the deal and tell me to get lost forever, if I got fresh. Now you've done it though, good luck keeping my hands off of them from now on, now that I know you actually like it."

She patted his cheek and winked, "Well, duh! I didn't have to admit any of that since you already proved me wrong. I just wanted to make sure you knew that I like your hands on me, and your mouth too, for that matter. Just don't go groping me in front of family or my pastor, okay?"

He leaned his forehead against hers and closed his eyes, "You just gave me permission to grope you. Holy shit. Damn that's hot. I need a cold shower now. I won't be long."

Mimi grabbed him by a belt loop on his pants to stop him from walking away. He turned to face her again wondering why she was delaying him. She quickly rose from the couch to stand toe to toe with him, narrowed her eyes in suspicion and felt between his legs, "I thought we agreed earlier that's mine?"

He sucked in a breath, "Yeah but you already ... and I don't expect ... and I ... oh fuck even that feels good. Damn, Meems, you seriously don't have to do this but I'm not noble enough to decline either. Whatever you want."

She held his face in both her palms, "To make you mindless again. That's what I want."

He nodded with a smirk on his lips, "Okay. Then I'm all yours. Blow my ... ha ha mind."

She lightly swiped at his arm for his lame humor and then kissed him once more before pushing him back onto the couch. She smiled when she saw his eyes wandering all up and down her naked body with obvious desire. She playfully nudged him to lay back. He readily complied. She tugged on his pants and briefs and he helpfully lifted his hips. She pulled them all the way down to his ankles and then she removed his shoes and socks to get his only remaining clothing the rest of the way off. When she turned back to look at him, her breath caught at the sight of him in all his naked, fully aroused glory and she paused in fascination. Jason mistook her pause for hesitancy and almost managed to sit up as he started to let her off the hook but his motion broke her reverie. She shook her head, pushing on his chest to prevent him from fully sitting up, "Oh, no you don't. I was just admiring the view. I let you look now it's my turn. Damn, Jase, you're just as chiseled as I remember from highschool - but somehow way hotter than then even. My teen self would tell me to shut it for saying that; I once thought a hotter you was an impossibility. Sometimes, being wrong is such a win. So can I still have what I want?"

He nodded, "Yeah. I just thought you changed your mind for a second there; which you can do anytime and I won't get upset at you."

Mimi crawled forward over top of him to kiss his mouth, "You said that before, and thanks for saying it again, but I'm not changing my mind."

She scooted back down and looked him in the eye as she took him into her mouth. He kept her gaze for only a few seconds and then he closed his eyes and started to fidget restlessly in abject pleasure. His hands wandered into her hair of their own accord and he rubbed the silken tresses between his fingers as she bobbed, licked, lightly scraped, sucked and hummed him into oblivion. He tried to warn her before he spent himself but in response, she only strengthened her suction on him and she didn't so much as sputter when he finally lost it; she greedily guzzled every last drop. She allowed him to slowly slide out of her mouth and tenderly kissed the softened flesh, followed by light kises all the way up his body until she was face to face with him. She hesitated, "You want me to rinse first?"

He rolled his eyes laughing lightly, "No. I'm not in the least bit squeamish about that. Gimme another kiss already."

Her eyebrow raised, "My, my that sounded so demanding."

He shrugged and grinned daringly, "Fine. Have it your way then. Don't kiss me, Meems."

She glared in mock perturbance at him and then briefly but deeply claimed his mouth with her own. She lifted her face and grinned sheepishly, "I want more, I do, but I'm tired, Jase. Like bone weary tired. I'll go get our pj's."

She reluctantly got up off of him but he grabbed her wrist to halt her, "Get them but don't put them on just yet. I can smell how horny you are and your newest friend, my hand wants to help you fall asleep smiling."

Mimi blushed but couldn't stop her grin, "That is one offer I doubt I'll ever refuse. Thanks, Jase. Be right back."

They took turns using the washroom and Mimi put their pj's within easy reach of the pull-out, then she tackled Jason to the bed with a long kiss. His questing hands found the exact spot she wanted him to find. He suckled strongly on her nipple as his fingers caressed her aroused nub of flesh. In less than five minutes she was bucking against his hand and calling out his name. He looked at her in disbelief, "Already? Seriously?"

She nodded between gasping breaths as she smiled, "Yeah. That was awesome, thanks, Jase."

He furrowed his brow suspiciously, "Did you fake that just to get some sleep? Because if you did, you didn't have to, all you had to do was say you were too tired even for that."

She gave him the look that let him know he'd stuck his foot in it and she cleared her throat, "I do not ever fake it, if you weren't hitting it right I'd say so. You were hitting it right and I was horny. Anything else, Jase?"

His eyes were still wide with caution as he shook his head and squeaked out, "Uh nope. Nope I'm good. Uh night Meems."

Mimi suddenly laughed, "Relax, Jase! I'm not mad I'm just sayin' so you know to never think that again. You said one thing right, you are good, I'll give you that. Never would have pegged you as being a thoughtful and generous lover. You're just full of all sorts of interesting surprises. Here would you tie these up for me? If I do it it won't be tight enough and I'll remember how to undo them even in my sleep."

He hastened to oblige in tying up her drawstring pajama bottoms and then put his own on while she finished turning off all the lights. She crawled into bed beside him and turned on her side away from him. When he didn't get the hint she looked over her shoulder, "Would you get over here! If I'm gonna sleep with no shirt on you have to keep my back warm. Yeah I know it's spring it's not cold but I don't like drafts. Ahh that's much better. The girls don't like drafts either, Jase. Perfect. Goodnight."

With a goofy grin on his face, Jason snuggled closer and affectionately squeezed her tits. He kissed the back of her ear, "Goodnight, Meems. See you in a few hours."

When she didn't say anything else he realized she was already asleep so he closed his eyes and let himself drift away too.
